Hello to all my #Hive photographic art loving friends!... Well, today I bring to share with you a series of photographs whose origin will be hard for me to explain without ending up looking like I'm a bit crazy :) But I'll try to do this in a more or less simple way: ‘I was walking along a country road while observing the horizon and I realised that my vision was interrupted by the timbers that hold up the barbed wire fences’... That's how I ended up looking at those timbers and realising that these have a certain charm and say a few things...

¡Hola a todos amigos amantes del arte fotográfico en #Hive!... Bien, hoy traigo para compartir con ustedes una serie de fotografías cuyo origen me costará explicar sin que termine pareciendo que estoy un poco loco :) Pero intentaré hacer esto de forma más o menos simple: "Iba yo caminando por un camino rural mientras observaba el horizonte y me percaté de que mi visión era interrumpida por los maderos que sostienen las alambradas"... Así fue como terminé mirando a esos maderos y percatándome de que tienen cierto encanto y dicen algunas cosas...

So, after a few minutes of looking at those old wooden poles, I decided that would be an interesting thing take some pictures of them and then sit in front my PC and look at them calmly, edit them and try to build a photographic series where the abstract, the human and the natural commune in a more or less equal way... And I did photograph a lot of those wooden poles!... After all, they are barely two metres away from each other and their shapes are very diverse!...

Entonces, después de varios minutos observando esos viejos maderos, decidí que sería una cosa interesante hacer algunas fotos de ello y luego sentarme en mi PC a mirarlas calmadamente, editarlas e intentar construir una serie fotográfica en donde lo abstracto, lo humano y lo natural comulgasen de una manera más o menos equitativa... ¡Y vaya que sí fotografíe un montón de esos postes de madera!... ¡Después de todos están a escasos dos metros uno del otro y sus formas son muy diversas!...

The owners of the haciendas take care to select very hard wood for their wire fences, as they have to withstand fire, termites, vandalism and in general the passage of time and the elements. So, if you spend a little time looking at these posts, you can find a lot of interesting details. This makes each one of these timbers a visual object with very different characteristics from each other, some look relatively new and others are real antiques full of marks and scars...

Los dueños de las haciendas procuran seleccionar maderas muy duras para colocar sus alambradas, pues estas tienen que soportar incendios, termitas, vandalismos y en general el paso del tiempo y la intemperie. Entonces, si uno dedica un poco de tiempo a observar estos postes, puede encontrar en ellos un montón de detalles interesantes. Esto convierte a cada uno de estos maderos en un objeto visual con características muy distintas unos de otros, algunos parecen relativamente nuevos y otros son verdaderas antigüedades repletas de marcas y cicatrices...

I refer to these poles as ‘totems’ for purely poetic reasons, but in reality, by consciously appreciating each one of them, I find or rather ‘decipher’ a lot of particular character in each one... Yes, I know, I'm sounding a bit crazy again!... But look at the pictures!... Who could imagine that a simple wooden pole could ‘pose’ so vehemently, eh?... :) The day I took these pictures I only had my 55-300mm zoom lens with me, however by holding apertures of f/5 and standing 4 or 5 meters away (to be able to use the maximum focal length) I was able to manoeuvre to get the wood quite well in focus in the foreground and to take advantage of the distant horizon to get quite blurred backgrounds.... I had fun doing this believe me!...And not only did I enjoy taking the pictures, I also had fun watching the faces of the few people who were walking along the dirt road and saw me taking pictures of wood and (once in a while) talking to those poles! :))

Llamo a estos postes "totems" por una cuestión puramente poética, pero en realidad,apreciando deforma consciente cada uno de ellos, encuentro o mejor dicho "descifro" mucho carácter particular en cada uno... ¡Sí, ya sé, estoy sonando un poco loco nuevamente!... ¡Pero mirad las fotos!... ¿Quien podría imaginarse que un simple poste de madera pudiese "posar" tan vehementemente, eh?... :) El día que hice estas fotos solo llevaba conmigo mi lente zoom 55-300mm, sin embargo sosteniendo aperturas de f/5 y colocándome a 4 o 5 metros de distancia (para poder usar la distancia focal máxima) pude maniobrar para obtener la madera bastante bien enfocada en primer plano y aprovechar el horizonte distante para logar fondos bastante difuminados... ¡Me divertí haciendo esto créanme!...Y no solamente disfruté hacer las fotos, también me divertí observando el rostro de las pocas personas que iban por el camino de tierra y me veían haciendo fotos de maderos y (una que otra vez) hablando con esos postes! :))

Besides these, I've taken a lot of photos on more posts, but I've saved them to spend a few hours editing for black and white. But I also have another project in mind following on from this one; I think I'll go out into the countryside to take pictures of poles using my macro lens or even the small 50 mm and I plan to focus on details more closely... So these are not the last photos of wooden poles you will see from me these days! ;

Además de estas, he hecho un montón de fotos en más postes, pero las he reservado para invertir algunas horas editando para blanco y negro. Pero también tengo otro proyecto en mente a raiz de este; creo que iré al campo ha hacer fotos de postes usando mi lente macro o incluso el pequeño 50mm y pienso enfocarme en detalles de manera más cercana... ¡Así que estas no son las ultimas fotos de postes de madera que verán de mi autoría estos días! ;)
