Introduction
Recently, Splinterlands gave us a surprise and reintroduced loot chests and made them available in to the glint shop. Inside these loot chests, they gave a jackpot and a person had a chance to get a beta pack, plot or title. Was this part of their 6th anniversary plan? I have no idea because it did last almost a full day before getting a nerf and those that took part are quite happy with the results. I call this first day of the loot chests as the "anniversary day"
Loot Chests Are Back
As mentioned before, the loot chests came back. I think as something that has stuck with Splinterlands rewards since the beginning (if I'm not mistaken) it only made sense to bring it back right? How can we stop giving loot chests after 6 years so I think that's probably one of the reasons it was brought back. It also came back with a bang. There's a jackpot available and we could get tradable rewards. It's been so long since getting packs or anything of actual value from reward chests since soul bound are technically not worth anything at the moment.
I was able to login right after maintenance and take a shot at the chests. I looked at it and I was like oh boy this looks like a mistake. I believe it came out at 1% for the jackpot which actually isn't that hard to get since we could buy 100 at a rate of 2500. It was totally worth it. I'm not surprised that this burned a lot of glintz. People were pulling beta packs, titles and plots left and right and almost depleted the whole pool in one day until Splinterlands had to come in and nerf it. Unfortunately, it's now 0.1% which you basically have to pray now to get it but it's still rewarding. I still think it's worth getting those chests if you still haven't maxed out the reward cards. There's also good merits to help max gladius cards.
I was able to get a plot token so I'm quite happy about that. Before I didn't have any land but now I have a chance to play the land game. I will probably wait for a chance to claim and survey this as right now is not a good time since the current tract already has the keep/castle surveyed.
Loot Chests In The Future
I believe for that one day we just had a small taste of what the future of Splinterlands can be like. If we can truly earn more rewards and interesting stuff from the glint shop I could see more people coming in and playing. I believe they plan on adding GF cards to the jackpot. I also think there's possibilities for collabs. Imagine being able to win a pudgy penguin from a jackpot. I don't think the jackpot has to only be Splinterlands stuff. There's a lot of potential like whitelist or even collabing with other hive projects.
What Splinterlands Should Focus For Seventh Year
I think what we are lacking in Splinterlands is bringing in more communities. Mostly we just have a niche group within hive and existing Splinterlands community. Splinterlands has a lot of potential to market to people that love TCG. We need to be able to have a log-in with socials. I've mentioned this many times before but this will take Splinterlands to the next level. Let people have access to their wallets when they are ready. I think being web2 friendly is the way to go but at the same time have web3 in place when people are ready to transition. We should also have an auto share feature to twitter. We should be able to share our awesome rewards and be like damn I just won a 25 dollar plot token today! Imagine how many players would start seeing and coming to Splinterlands.
