The Chief Engravers of the United States Mint and the Royal Mint are collaborating once again on an unprecedented new project, coin and medal design, to celebrate the special relationship between the two nations and our two historic mints. This project comes after a successful joint project honoring the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower Voyage in 2020. The combined final design of Liberty and Britannia showcases two allegorical subjects that have been seen separately on numerous coins over the years, but never together.
Liberty, traditionally symbolized by a woman in all her guises, stands for that fundamental ideal that is so significant to Americans. From the very first coins the US Mint produced, she has been featured on American currency.
Britannia has long served as the symbol of Britain's identity. Originally a representation of naval might, it has evolved to represent pride in and unanimity within the country. Since the late 1600s, Britannia has been a mainstay on British coins.
What could be more appropriate than a collaborative coin design that honors and brings our two wonderful countries together?
2024 Liberty & Britannia Silver Proof Medal
Allegorical Liberty and Britannia are depicted in stoic profile portraits featuring complimentary and balancing faces. Their appearance identifies each figure; Liberty carries a torch and is adorned with stars, while Britannia wields a trident and wears a Corinthian helmet. Inscriptions are "LIBERTY" and "2024". 1

The sun rises over the Atlantic Ocean, framed by two shores with a Great Basin Bristlecone Pine tree in the west and an English Yew tree in the east, representing both nations and heralding new possibilities for their mutual friendship now and going forward. The inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and LIBERTY AND BRITANNIA." 1

I know you got the coin... Charles. Unfortunately, most of the coins I have been stacking have the monarch on the obverse. Sometimes I feel shortchanged as the mints designs only the reverse for the year. But I don't mind the ASE and AGE, !LOL (I am partial to the US Mint!!!)

I don’t think there will be. But who knows. I’m not a fan of Charles so I’d prefer not to buy them. I like the ASE but not the premiums. I stopped buying them. I’d rather buy buffaloes than ASG’s but I don’t have either so it doesn’t matter.

In the past (like my first year of stacking) I used to poo poo medals. But what are medals from the US MINT??? They are better than any round or bar from any private source and are historical. All the American Liberty series are medals. And they are issued by the government. These medals are meant to be collected, not stacked. When it comes to silver and gold, the face value is worthless. $1 American Silver Eagle? So, if you noticed, the US Mint charges the same for uncirculated ASE and medals.
Yes, you have to break that habit, hahaha!
