My challenge to make constantly 5K+ steps /

in FreeCompliments2 months ago (edited)

I try to walk as much as possible every day, but inevitably there are days when I hardly walk at all. You can see them on the photo above. On Sundays when the stores are closed, or on days when my partner picks up our daughter from school, this is the kind of day I have.

I realize that people in Germany are good at going out for a walk, while I, who grew up in Tokyo, a concrete jungle and shopping paradise, am not good at going out without a purpose, like "to go see a flower shop."

I pretended to ignore this problem for a long time, but when I started @actifit thanks to the 5000 AFIT from @hive-ja and observing my daily step count more thoroughly, the problem bother me. Also it's good to improve it for my health.

Yesterday it was Sunday, a dangerous day for me because it was Easter Sunday with few stores were open at the central station, and I had already been to the Easter market so I had less reasons to go out.

In the morning, I forced myself to go out to water plants in my office. And we did an Easter treasure hunt in the garden and increased a bit to about 4000 steps.

I wanted to go over 5,000 steps and felt my body heavy before and after dinner, so I went for a 20-minute walk around the neighborhood. A walk at night is not bad 😊

During my evening walk I was listening to a talk about Ayurveda, and it seems that it is natural for the body to become heavier in the spring. According to an advice in the talk, it's good to eat bitter foods. I looked up which kind of food they were and found asparagus, my favorite, is one of them 🙌 I'm going to buy some asparagus tomorrow when the stores open.

I'm going to try to walk a little every now and then like I did yesterday and try to make more than 5,000 steps every day 😊

Do you have any tips on how to walk consistently every day or anything that you are careful about? If so, please let me know!

The best way I found is when I can fit it into my everyday life - like walking to and from the office. If I can't do that, I try and walk to the store everyday and buy one or two things (not ideal because sometimes one or two things becomes many more). Where I was living before I had walks of diffrent duration - twenty minutes, forty minutes, an hour, that I could put into my day. I haven't found the equivalent here yet.

In the summer, I try and walk in the early morning before the temerature rises. It is also a wonderful time to be outside. I find walking is quite addictive, the more I do it, the more I want to do it, sometimes, I don't want to come back into the house from outside! 😂

Thanks for sharing your tips @shanibeer 😁

Visiting stores was a good technique in Japan ... but not so much in Germany as shops close on Sundays ;) Taking a walk to my office to see and water plants will be alternative. And I understand that once we go out, it's hard to come back especially in summer.
