La gaita se ha caracterizado por su temática de protesta, las primeras gaitas literariamente hablando fueron de protesta .

Hoy dia la protesta es un eslabón de la gaita zuliana que esta muy olvidado, y las pocas protestas que salen a la luz son muy sutiles para no ofender a nadie.

Los tiempos de oro de las protestas fueron entre los años 50 hasta principios del 2000, donde los gaiteros contaban las anécdotas y el sentimiento de la población en descontento .

Hoy dia se ha perdido el 90% de la protesta gaitera por OBVIAS razones, la ultima protesta creo yo mas actual es del pollo brito con chuchito Ibarra, se llama la culpa es tuya.

La protesta no debería ser censurada en ningún ámbito, las protestas no son partidarias, tampoco son arraigadas a algún partido político, ellas solo muestran el sentir de nuestras necesidades y quejas que reflejamos dia a dia en nuestro pais.
