Ryse to the occasion 🩸🗡️🛡️

I may be 10 years late, but I'm finally getting to play Ryse: Son of Rome. I remember this game being one of the only Xbox titles that I felt I was missing out on when I decided to switch from Xbox to PlayStation as the PS4 dropped. Thanks to Xbox Game Pass on my Xbox Series S, I can finally give this game a shot.

Ryse: Son of Rome is an action-adventure game developed by Crytek and published by Microsoft Studios, originally released in 2013 as an exclusive title for the Xbox One. Set during the height of the Roman Empire, the game follows the story of Marius Titus, a Roman general seeking vengeance against those responsible for the murder of his family. With its cinematic presentation, stunning visuals, and intense combat, Ryse: Son of Rome offers players a visceral and immersive experience as they journey through ancient Rome's brutal and tumultuous era.

At the core of Ryse is its engaging and brutal combat system, which emphasizes tactical swordplay and visceral finishing moves. Players must master a variety of combat techniques, including melee attacks, ranged attacks, and defensive maneuvers, to overcome waves of enemies ranging from barbarian warriors to elite Roman soldiers. The game's intuitive combat mechanics allow for fluid transitions between different attack types, creating a satisfying and dynamic gameplay experience that rewards skill and precision.

In addition to its intense combat, Ryse is praised for its compelling narrative and character development. As players progress through the game's campaign, they witness Marius Titus' transformation from a loyal soldier to a vengeful warrior consumed by revenge. The game's storytelling is enhanced by its cinematic cutscenes, motion-captured performances, and detailed historical settings, which bring the world of ancient Rome to life in stunning detail. With its blend of action-packed gameplay, cinematic storytelling, and historical authenticity, Ryse stands out as a memorable and immersive gaming experience for fans of action-adventure games and Roman history alike.

This game somehow still looks amazing in 2024, thanks to the developers over at Crytek. Their graphics have always been ahead of the times. The game seemed pretty awesome right from the start. Ryse wastes no time throwing you into the brutality of the Roman period. Let's have a closer look at the game in my gameplay video below.

Thanks for watching and be sure to drop any comments you may have down below, I will get back to everyone.

AWESOME gameplay bro! looks incredible is like GOW in Rome xD thanks for sharing

That's precisely how I'd describe the game. It's brutal!

You said "the game looks really good STILL, 10 years after release"

I think this is true with a lot of games. We seemed to have hit a wall of realism about that time and many attempts to improve on an already great system have kind of flopped. I don't have any specific examples of this but I think things achieved such a massive boost in realism 10 years ago that the only thing they would really do was make it faster.

You can only get so real, that's true. I've been seeing a lot about Senua 2 have some of the most realistic character animations ever. It just released and is raising the bar further for the industry. Even that brand new game with gorgeous graphics is comparable to Ryse in some ways.

awesome! luv these types of games.

anything spartan esque..

This is one of the best options for that era of history

Fighting games are always more interesting to me, so I try to play similar games.
