At the moment, dCrops revolves around three things, namely - Lands, Seeds and Boosters.

1) Land:

As obvious as it is - higher rarity land, the better, but getting 'em in market is rather expensive and in my opinion not worth the price.

For budget farmers, I'd recommend sticking with fertile land, while being little expensive than most affordable average farmland, it gives more than a double crop chance, and is more efficient with booster items.

That being said,

Higher rarity lands will be more useful for crafting equipments in beta edition.

Equipments will need land to be built on. The type of land an equipment is built on will determine what kinds of bonuses it will get.

2) Boosters:

Reason for putting Boosters section prior to seeds being that, you need to use boosters prior to planting seeds.

This should be noted down somewhere obvious but it's not. Players only learn after making mistake of planting seed before applying booster.

However, it does not go in vain, it will apply to next crop you plant and not current.

Purchase Boosters | Purchase Crop Tokens

Two types of boosters you can apply to crops:

1)Ferti Plus

Cost: 25 Crop

Increases your chances to get 2/3 star harvest. Base chances are 9% and 1%, Ferti Plus makes it 18% and 2% respectively.

The stars act as a multiplier on the amount of shares received when selling the crop. A 3 star crop sells for 3 times that of a 1 star crop.

In case you do not prefer to roll, you may hold 2/3 star crops and sell 'em in other season(s) for relevant quests. Yes, you can sell harvested crops in any season.

Additionally, holding 3 star crops counts towards crop power with structure as follows:

3 star common crops: 0.25 point

3 Star rare crops : 0.5 point

3 star epic crops : 0.75 points

3 star legendary crops: 1 point

2)Speed Gro

Cost: 30 Crop

Description: Reduces the time required for a seed to mature by 10%-50% on a specific plot of land.

A must use on seeds such as wheat, tomato, peas as it helps you get max harvests in season.

Things to keep in mind about Crop boosters:

  • Boosters needs to be applied before planting crop and they last until harvest.

  • For crops having multiple harvests in season, you may boost according to crop harvest. For example, for a crop having 2 harvests in season, use 2 Ferti Plus/Speed Gro beforehand so other gets automatically applied upon first harvest completion.

  • The more quantity harvest, the better chances. Hence, Ferti Plus would give you better chances with Garlic having 2 production than Carrot having 1 production.

Unsure whether plot has booster applied or not? Toggle 'show boosters'.

3)Mystery Seeds

Cost: 40 Crop

Description: Turns into a random seed from the current season when planted.

They work just like normal seeds except that they are much cheaper, and being cheaper implies a catch and that is they disappear upon freeing the plot. Unlike, bought seeds which enter cooldown mode.

Mystery seeds are good for times when farmer is on tight budget or just wanna gamble for epic/legendary seeds.

It's better to plant mystery seed when season starts cause you don't know what seed you will be getting. If you were to get seed with more maturity time than days left, seed would go waste.

Boosters needs to be applied before planting seeds, mystery seed is no exception.

3) Seeds:

4 rarity of seeds. Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary. Epic/Legendary seeds have different special abilities.

Seasonal Combinations:

We'll stick with common seeds with fertile land - best choice for budget farmers.

Speed Gro is must on crops like wheat, peas to get max number of harvests per season. How many? Depends on boost you get. You may also use Ferti Plus to increase your chances for 2/3 star harvest.

Total harvest below excludes any bonus crops you might get and is per plot, per season.

Summer: Wheat + Speed Gro

Days: 4

Number of harvests: 4

Quantity/plot: 2 Wheat

Price: 7 Shares

Total harvest: 56 Shares

Pro-Tip: Wheat will have significant role in beta edition recipes (wheat >> flour >> bread >> toast), and since alpha edition cards are limited, you might want to scoop it up!

Spring: Brocolli + Speed Gro

Days: 5

Number of harvests: 3

Quantity/plot: 2 Brocolli

Price: 7 Shares

Total Harvest: 42 Shares

Fall: Garlic

Days: 7

Number of harvests: 2

Quantity/plot: 2 Garlic

Price: 7 Shares

Total Harvest: 28 Shares

Winter: Peas + Speed Gro

Days: 4

Number of harvests: 4

Quantity/plot: 5 peas

Price: 3 Shares

Total Harvest: 60 Shares

Miscellaneous:

Leaderboard, Crop power and Holding rewards

Every season, there is pool of crop tokens allocated to reward pool which shrinks by 0.5% each passing season. Current seasonal pool is ~450k crop tokens.

When you sell your harvested crops, you earn shares which determines your position in leaderboard. At the end of season, your position in leaderboard determines your crop token rewards.

15 day average of the sum of your dCrops assets is your crop power, when you have minimum of 20k crop power you start earning daily Hive holding rewards.

dCrops faq explains it in detail(Just to add, unopened beta packs also count towards 2k crop power): https://dcrops.com/faq

Quests

There are three types of quests each season: Plant, Sell and Harvest.

Plant, Harvest quests are season specific. Sell quests can be of any season, hence you may hold harvests of different seasons in your inventory and sell later to complete season specific quests. However, if you like to keep things simple, just roll irrelevant quests, it costs 10 crop tokens.

Upon completion of quest, you can claim reward chest. Items in reward chest is scaled by how much crop power you have with structure as follows:

0-100k CP, +1 Item per 10k CP

100k-500k CP, +1 Item per 20k CP

500k-1M CP, +1 Item per 50k CP

Note: Above structure is going to change soon, thereby you will get additional item per 15k cp. Join dCrops Discord | Blog to stay up to date.

These reward chests contains booster items and resource NFTs. Resource items will play significant roll in beta edition. Don't miss quests!

Market Tips

  • Go on shopping for next season's seeds a week before it actually starts, you will be able to scoop 'em up at relatively cheaper rate.
  • Do not be allured by lands planted with seeds. Often those are mystery seeds and will disappear upon freeing plot. I learned this hard way.

  • Buying what you need from market is better than buying complete packs.

  • Speculation. Stay up to date with dCrops updates and react accordingly. In beta edition post — few things are mentioned, such as making recipes from Wheat, Strawberry, Pumpkin. I expect a price rise to these items, even more so because these items are limited to alpha edition.

  • Obvious but always check minimum card value in Crop tokens and in Hive. Whichever is cheapest, you should buy.

  • Check cooldown time of seeds you are going to purchase, especially if you are purchasing to plant.

  • Avoid buying Alpha packs from market, they are pricey and not worth the amount paid, for the most rolls at least. Plus, my ego forbids me to buy those packs especially cause those were sold for $1/$2 a piece.
