New West – white iris flower

On Sunday morning I was up at 4AM and got my post up. Then I finished watering the seedlings. Once chores were done, I headed outside at 8:30AM to start work on the rosebed.

I needed to make another trellis so I went hunting for wood. There was none I could use in the shed, the cellar, or the barn. There was wood, but with the brainfog and my hands the way they are, I don’t mess with power tools. So I got started on the rosebed instead.

This is how I left it 2 weeks ago.

I got the roses tied up to the trellises I had and then started weeding.

I had to use the trowel to find the edging most of the way around. I tossed the excess soil back into the bed.

The scent of the lilacs was really lovely as I worked under them. Once the weeds were out, I put down FlowerTone and greensand to feed the roses.

While I was working, very nearly finished, my neighbor came by with her dog. I asked if she could take me to the building supply store for some furring strips to make a trellis. She said she could so we left about an hour later.

I had managed to get cleaned up, eat lunch, and start collecting the tools I would need to make the trellis by the time she came back.

We headed to the store and I had to sort through several bundles of furring strips until I found ones without knots. When we got back home, I discovered lots of people had been trying to call me.

I don’t remember the comfrey being so large under this MacIntosh apple tree.

I had just finished collecting all the tools when the phone rang. It was my friend trying to reach me so we could go to Lilacland as planned. While I waited for her to arrive, I called my mom and wished her happy Mother’s Day and then I was off to Lilacland.

I couldn’t get a decent picture of the New South garden so I took it in 3 parts.

Most of these are perennials, just the pansies planted as annuals. I have a lot of annuals to go into this garden.

These have a lovely delicate scent.

So that was how my morning went on Sunday.

Sort:

I’m loving your garden update and I must say that you’re doing well with it
Keep it up!

I just love the way your garden is looking right now! That comfrey under the macintosh tree is so beautiful.

There was a hummingbird in the comfrey at lunch time. :))

Were you able to capture it?

No, camera was in the house, of course….sigh…

I feel like living in your house so I can enjoy the sight and fragrances of all these flowers.😊

May is the best month on the farm, for sure!

White Irish flower really caught my attention with it's pure white and yellow colors

I can see all the tools you used in keeping your garden clean and i must confess that is really looking lovely.
