Gardening Season 2023 - Hive Garden Challenge (August)

in HiveGarden10 months ago

Hello garden lovers! I am back with another garden update and this one is part of the #gardenjournal challenge for the month of August! What better way to start a new month than spending time in the garden, having a small harvest, take some photos and watch the sunset...

For details and more information about this challenge, please check out the original post!

Garden overview - August 1st, 2023

Here's some of our grapes that luckily survived a recent storm. We have two areas with grapes and also two kinds - purple and white grapes. Still waiting to see how they will turn out when they hit the ripe stage, so far they look good!

3.jpg

Blackberries are here! These past few days have been busy so I kin of forgot to check on them and today I finally had some time to harvest the ripe blackberries and raspberries. We should do this every two days to get the most out of them and not let them get overripe.

To my luck, cherry tomatoes recovered after a little bit of a rough start this season! These are some of my favorite things we grow in the garden so I am trying to enjoy them as much as I can meaning I eat them pretty much every day at this point, lol.

Cabbage is doing well and there is an obvious difference between the ones that we planted earlier (top right side of the photo) and the rest. Pre-planting cabbage is definitely the best way to go from our personal experience, the guarantee it will do well is much higher.

6.jpg

We used this mesh net kind of thing to cover some of the tomatoes but the storm completely took it of and to my surprise strong wind didn't blow it away and it was still left in a decent condition so we'll try to use it again.

7.jpg

These are some spicy peppers that we are having an abundance of. They are still green but still hot as I've heard from my family members - my tolerance for spicy food is very low so I don't even want to take the risk.

9.jpg

Recently my mom made lunch for the entire family where she used some of the yellow bell peppers to made stuffed peppers with grounded meat and it was so good!

Finally, here's our small harvest of the day. Blackberries and raspberries are going to be stored in the freezer and cherry tomatoes are ready to be eaten (by me), haha.

That's all for my entry for the Hive garden challenge and my beginning of August garden update! Thank you for stopping by and I'll see you soon in another post! Happy gardening! :)

I wish I can have a taste of raspberry and blackberries. They're not in my country.

The Specie of grape am seeing in this post is quite different from ours over here. God is wonderful

It's always interesting to hear the differences in what people can or cannot grow in different parts of the world.

Amazing to see how much things have recovered after such a storm. Those berries wouldn't make it to the freezer - I'd definitely be looking the guilty one with rings of red and purple on my mouth, haha. What a beautifually abundant place you have.

It was such a relief to see some of the fruits and veggies coming back to life after that storm. Haha, it happens to me sometimes, I eat more than I leave for the freezer! :D

Wow what an incredible garden!:) An amazing harvest it will be!:) Awesome, thanks for sharing!:)

Every year I am in awe of your grapes. It inspired me to plant a couple of my own this year, but they are still tiny plants.

Thank you! Yay, I'm glad to hear that! It takes time but it's definitely worth it, I hope they will grow big and give you a lot of fruits in the future! :)
