El riesgo está presente en cualquier emprendimiento, cada iniciativa puede ser exitosa o no, es un asunto que debe ser considerado por los emprendedores.
Claro, no se trata de ser pesimista o de iniciar nuestro negocio pensando que nos irá mal, porque de ser así no tendría sentido iniciarlo. Pero si debemos tener en consideración que a pesar de haber hecho los estudios necesarios antes de iniciar, a pesar de haber sido concienzudos y pensar que tomamos en cuenta todas las variables, siempre habrá la posibilidad de que algo se nos escape y que ocurran cosas que no están bajo nuestro control.
Hace poco hablaba con el dueño de un negocio de videojuegos de mi zona. Al preguntarle cómo le iba, me respondió que no muy bien. Me comentó que tal como había estimado sí había un mercado para su negocio, había un conjunto de usuarios que demandaban el servicio, no tantos como él esperaba pero sí lo suficientes como para dar una rentabilidad razonable.
¿Pero sí es así, entonces qué es lo malo…?, le pregunté.
Es que me ha pasado algo que no consideré, me respondió. Al poco tiempo de iniciar las actividades comenzaron a agravarse los problemas con los servicios. Ahora, las fallas de electricidad e internet son mayores. Y eso es fatal para un negocio como este que depende absolutamente de la electricidad para estar operativo.
¿Y si pruebas poniendo una planta eléctrica…? Añadí, tratando de explorar sus posibilidades.
Sí, eso pudiera ser una alternativa, el problema es que con la inversión inicial agoté todo mi capital y con los ingresos que está generando el negocio no creo que se justifique endeudarme para conseguir una planta eléctrica, que por las características del negocio tendría que ser un poco más grande de lo habitual. La verdad, no se justifica esa otra inversión. Creo que lo mejor es cerrar aquí y evaluar la posibilidad de abrir en otra zona donde las condiciones sean más favorables…
Este ejemplo ilustra muy bien lo que señalaba al principio. El amigo hizo su estudio de factibilidad antes de comenzar con el negocio de los videojuegos. Tenía a su favor un perfecto conocimiento del ramo, él mismo era capaz de resolver todos los problemas relacionados con el software y las máquinas, por lo que no necesitaba pagar a nadie para ese mantenimiento. Además, el negocio no tenía competidores, en la zona más nadie ofrecía ese tipo de entretenimiento. También se ocupó de buscar un local de fácil acceso , mediano tránsito de personas, y un alquiler bastante razonable.
En teoría con eso era más que suficiente para que el negocio se mantuviera en el tiempo. Sin embargo, no tenía forma de saber qué en el corto plazo se agravaría el problema de los servicios. Ese era un imponderable que para nada podía estar bajo su control.
Sin embargo, y a pesar del malestar que le deja ese fracaso, no todo es pérdida. La experiencia vivida le ha dejado varios aprendizajes valiosos. Le permitió aprender a gestionar un negocio que nunca había emprendido. Ahora está mejor preparado para llevar adelante negocios de ese tipo. También está mucho más consciente de la importancia de ampliar sus estudios de mercado para tener la posibilidad de un mayor flujo de clientes, y sabe que debe indagar más sobre la calidad de los servicios en la zona donde vaya a comenzar de nuevo.
Los fracasos siempre cumplen un papel pedagógico, nos enseñan nuevas experiencias que de otro modo no podríamos tener. Una buena parte de los aprendizajes se logra por ensayo y error, así ha sido desde el origen de los tiempos.
Lo más recomendable es matizar nuestra actitud, entender que los fracasos están a la orden del día y que a partir de ellos seguramente saldremos más fortalecidos para hacer las cosas mejor.

Besides, the business had no competitors, nobody else in the area offered that kind of entertainment. He also took care of looking for a place with easy access, medium traffic of people, and a reasonable rent.

Hola @irvin, definitivamente cualquier cosa puede pasar y en este sentido la actitud del emprendedor es su fortaleza, pues no se trata de ir pensando en todas las posibilidades negativas que puedan ocurrir y desplomen el proyecto, sino estar abierto a los cambios que se produzcan, aceptarlos y seguir adelante.
