The Chiang Mai Hash is celebrating their 1000th run

This is quite the milestone. Not many Hash Chapters anywhere in the world make it this far. It wasn't always easy and just like with most Hash startups there were times that we nearly closed it down due to lack of participation. We persevered through the years though and now we have our 1000th run coming up in just a few weeks.

Just like the sign says, it only took us 20 years to make this happen. For those in the know, and from what I constantly say on here it would seem as though we would get there faster because we do 3 runs per week as well as special even runs so this would be more than 150 runs per week. Well it wasn't always that way and during Covid times we were not allowed to do any runs at all for nearly a year. This is why it has taken us about 35% more time to get there than it might appear as though it should have.

This run costs nearly 3x as much as our normal runs do but this is because of the fact that you are getting a commemorative t-shirt and you are getting a "free" dinner after the run is over. As always there is a free-flow of beer after the run at the circle as well as on the bus away from the run to the dinner. The run will also be a bit more well-planned than a majority of our runs so people can expect this to not be the usual Hash run.

You do NOT need to be a member of the Chiang Mai Happy HHH to participate. This run is open to the public so even if you have never done this before I can't think of a better way to fire things up than to be there at a monumental achievement moment like this.

As someone has pointed out in the past there is a spelling mistake in our logo. We are aware of this and realized it right after it was created. We left it that way because slight spelling mistakes are quite common in Thailand and we felt as though this mistake embodies a lot of what life is like in this wonderful country.

So come one come all, you do not need an invitation. Just be at the McDonalds across from Tai Pei Gate (a very well-known landmark in Chiang Mai) at the correct time and trust me, you'll know who the hashers are from there. We will be the ones that are probably being a bit too loud and are dressed in absurd clothes.

Sort:

Wow that is some achievement and yes 1 run per week for 20 years will get you around the 1000 run mark. It is amazing how some Hash groups succeed and flourish whilst others struggle and would only dream to be doing their 1000th run.

almost all Hash chapters fizzle out around the 200 run mark. Many before that due to lack of interest in the new area or even people knowing what it is.
