Dear Friends,

We went to the mall yesterday. Every week, I always get a supply from Del Monte such as Spaghetti noodles and Macaroni, but without ingredients. So, we went at the Robinsons mall to cook a Filipino style Spaghetti as we celebrated Mother’s Day for our mom. We bought the Spaghetti ingredients such as ground pork, onion, garlic, cheese, hotdog, milk and carrots. The typical spaghetti is without milk, but at home, we don’t like the taste like the Jollibee spaghetti, so we add an Evaporated milk and it tastes so good. I can’t believe how the products inflated in prices because we paid 6.9$, including the snacks of the kids.

While we paid at the counter, my baby was amused to look at the displayed toothbrush and the rectangular boxes . I was scared if she could damage an item. She moves a lot wherever and touches everything she sees at the mall, so, I always redirect her to avoid a tantrum. I always bring her with me if I go out because I have trust issue if I leave her with my little sister or even my mom. Sometimes, it’s tiring to redirect her when I’m so exhausted, so I just let her cry at home, but if we’re outside, I find ways that we couldn’t annoy the strangers especially those who don’t like babies.

I was glad that my sister-in-law is very energetic. She helped me in handling my baby, and this time, she was the one who paid at the cashier. There was only a short queue, maybe because people were celebrating mother’s day in their homes. As she paid at the cashier, I was on guard of my baby who rearranged the piled boxes.

We went to the mall unprepared of our clothes. My nephew wore slippers only, teeshirt and short pants. We were unprepared because we took the opportunity to leave the house while our mother was taking a bath. We didn’t want to tell her our plans because it was a surprise. In fact, I changed my baby’s clothes in the car instead of our room because we rushed to leave while she was not done. If we left her while she was just sitting down at the living room, she’ll surely detect of our plans.

LThe mall wasn’t crowded which is unusual even if they have 70% sale for branded men’s clothes. Maybe, men were at the cakes shops to buy mother’s day cakes for their wives and mother.

There were no people at the boutique too. This botique has also promos for mothers. They usually have an expensive prices, but it went down that day.

What We saw that day were the employees of the mall. There were only a few mall goers in the escalator. Sometimes, their escalators won’t move as it carries an excess baggages.

We looked the the bouquet of flowers at the mall but the price isn’t good. The bouquet of roses with teddy bears and balloons cost 50$. 15$ is the cheapest. We didn’t like the overpricing, so we went to a place we call here, “Busa.” Along the road in this place are the flower shops. Before mother’s day, the 7$ at the
shops are already unique with plenty of flowers, but during that day, 15$ bouquet was the cheapest.

Fathers and mothers were obviously celebrating as they were busy asking the prices. In these stores, we can also buy a customized bouquet like a flower with money bouquet. They don’t usually give a high price but we can ask the sellers to lower it down. Some sellers cannot give a discounted price, but there are many options here because the side walk is full of the flower shops.

We bought a coffee cake from Goldilocks for 15$, a 7 pieces barbecued chicken wings from Mang Inasal for 25$, four boxes of pizza from Butuans famous pizza house Albertos, 7 pieces of fried chicken from Chowking for 25$ and another 7 pieces of Chao Fan (fried rice with lumpia and siomai toppings) for 15$ and a bouquet of flowers for 15$. I wasn’t able to take pictures because my baby was climbing, yet, my mother was teary-eyed with the surprises. How about you, how did you celebrate Mother’s Day at home?
