UPDATE: Dog named "no home" gets a forever home!

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITYlast month

You might recall how we were recently talking about a very well-behaved dog that was being looked after by a community to a minimal sense but "no home" had fallen on tough times with being diagnosed with cancer, having been poisoned at least once, and living on the streets and depending on people in the neighborhood for water and food. Thankfully the community was giving her food and at least somewhat looking after her.

This story ended up getting re-posted all over the internet and miraculously, someone reached out to us and now "no home" is going to be soon going to her forever home with a family in Thailand.

Unfortunately it is very rare that this sort of thing happens. We feature down on their luck dogs on a regular basis but so few of them actually get adopted. One of the major reasons why this happened was because since we started operations years ago, a very large portion of our adoptions came from overseas and regulations have become more strict since those days to the point where it is impossible, or very expensive to relocate a dog to another country. One of the worst was Australia who necessitates at 3 month quarantine in a "qualified country" (Thailand is not considered that) followed by a 3-month quarantine in Australia. Obviously this is massively expensive so since that went into place we have never had a successful adoption to that country.

I guess the story of "no home" hit people just the right way because our very limited ability to let the world know about our plight apparently resonated with people that have a much greater reach than we do as far as social media is concerned. A family that wished to remain anonymous has adopted her and soon she will begin the journey to another part of Thailand where she will live with a family and receive regular food and water as well as medical care.

I gotta say, while we are absolutely delighted any time one of our rescues gets adopted, we are definitely going to miss her. She is a very unique soul who despite not having a great deal of ease and love in her life, is just so willing to shower you with kisses and loyalty at all times. Dogs truly are amazing creatures because to have this big of a heart after the world basically turned its back on you your entire life, is just incredible.

All of us here at Krabi Animal Welfare are just delighted that she has recovered from her illnesses including cancer and is soon going to be heading to a home the likes of which she has never known. Special thanks to everyone out there that helped us to get the word out because ultimately, this is the best possible outcome for any of the dogs that we look after.

There is always goodness in every hardship, because it is impossible for God to create HIS creatures to vent human anger, which makes me wonder why you have to poison animals who are innocent to him? I salute that at your place there are many volunteers who want to be kind and love their fellow creatures, which is very different from where I am.

Thanks for that. Without organizations like our own, nothing would be done for most of these animals. Thailand has no official animal control and situations are handled by the people or if they are handled by the police it is normally done in a very inhumane way. Poisoning dogs is just horrible. It is a very slow and agonizing death.

I am a Muslim but I once cared for a dog and I was also criticized for keeping it. My principle is that all sentient creatures have the right to live.
And at that time I would feel guilty if the dog I found died of starvation.

I wish that there are no homeless cats and dogs in the world. These days, dogs are protected in my country. Anybody who abandoned their cats and dogs can be sued.Thank you for rescuing this pretty dog. No dog deserves to live in the street because they’re pure and loyal.

what country is this? A law like that here would be impossible to enforce. I think there are laws against mistreatment of animals in many countries but it would be nice if people just did the right thing without a law.

Lovely story that "no home" now has a home and sad that this is so rare. I will never get a dog from a breeder ever again and will have rescue dogs instead because they deserve a second chance.

it would be fantastic if more people would understand that breeders are a big part of the problem and at least for now and probably the rest of my life, the stray animal population is suffering and huge.

Breeders are the reason for the number of strays and it is irresponsible on their part.
