Hello monochromatic #Hive friends!.... Welcome to a new edition of my black and white street photography. Today I bring to share with you some photos which at the time of capture did not seem so good or relevant, but after downloading them to my PC I found in them that "something special" that have certain photos that are out of the ordinary...
¡Hola amigos monocromáticos de #Hive!... Bienvenidos a una nueva edición de mis fotografías callejeras en blanco y negro. Hoy traigo para compartir con ustedes algunas fotos las cuales al momento de su captura no me parecieron tan buenas o relevantes, pero después de descargarlas a mi PC encontré en ellas ese "algo especial" que tienen ciertas fotos que se salen de lo habitual...
"A bit of Dalí in that window" / "Un poco de Dalí en esa ventana"
I loved everything I found in this photo once I looked at it enlarged on my monitor. Sometimes very crazy things occur to me, like thinking that it's not me who decides to take some of my photos but that an "irreverent and fallen angel" whispers in my ear something like: "Shoot there guy"... Or do you think it was me who noticed that withered bush, the old wood embedded in the wall and the old age of that forgotten window?... ;)
Amé todo lo que encontré en esta foto una vez que la observé ampliada en mi monitor. A veces se me ocurren cosas muy locas, como pensar que no soy yo quien decide hacer algunas de mi fotos sino que un "ángel irreverente y caído me susurra al oído" algo como: "¡Dispara allí ammigo!"... ¿O es que acaso creen que fui yo quien se percató de ese arbusto marchito, las viajas maderas incrustadas en la pared y la vejez de esa ventana olvidada?... ;)
"Before going to school" / "Antes de salir a la escuela"
I took this picture because I found the look of this little boy waiting for his mother to take him to his school charming. However, when I looked at it on the camera's display it seemed to me that it was not framed properly, so I decided to take another picture but the boy had already got up and disappeared from there. So I went down the street thinking that I had missed out on taking a better picture.... But it wasn't the case!.... Just looking at this picture on my PC I loved the perfect ‘connection’ of the boy's gaze with the lens of my camera....
Disparé esta foto porque me pareció encantadora la mirada de ese pequeño niño esperando a que su madre le llevase a su escuela. Sin embargo, al mirarla en el display de la cámara me pareció que no estaba bien encuadras, así que decidí disparar otra foto pero ya el niño se había levantado y desaparecido de allí. Así que fe fui calle abajo pensando que me había perdido de hacer una mejor fotografía... ¡Pero no fue así!... Apenas al mirar esta fotografía en mi PC me encantó la "conexión" perfecta de la mirada del chico con el objetivo de mi cámara...
"Where Alberto sits and chews tobacco" / "Donde Alberto se sienta a mascar tabaco"
This is a really strange photo... It is the place where a man called Alberto sits in the afternoons chewing tobacco and spitting on the ground... I think I almost felt a bit of ‘ revulsion ’ when I took this photo !...But, considering that Alberto doesn't like to be photographed, I thought it was quite appropriate to take a photo of his favourite place to chew tobacco !... ;)
Esta es una foto realmente extraña... Es el lugar en donde un hombre llamado Alberto se siente durante las tardes a mascar tabaco y a escupir en el suelo... ¡Creo que casi sentí un poco de "asco" al hacer esta foto!...Pero, dado que a Alberto no le gusta ser fotografiado, me pareció bastante oportuno hacer una foto de su lugar favorito para mascar tabaco!... ;)
"Incomprehensible collage" / "Collage incomprensible"
I can say that this is one of the photos because of which I decided to title this publication as ‘Alternative Black & White’... I don't really know why I took this picture, I don't understand it.... But at the end of the day, it looks very eloquent once you take a closer look!... Don't you think?
Puedo decir que esta es una de las fotos por las cuales decidí titular esta publicación como "Blanco & Negro alternativo"... En realidad no sé porque hice esta foto, no lo comprendo... ¡Pero al final de todo, luce muy elocuente una vez que le miras detenidamente!... ¿No creen?
"Near collapse" / "Casi en derrumbe"
I very often pass by the street where Francisco's old house is, Francisco by the way died about 20 years ago if I remember correctly. One of these days, maybe in this very month of May, I passed by and heard my whispering photographer angel say in my ear: ‘Shoot some pictures, it will soon fall’...
Paso muy frecuentemente por la calle en donde está la casa vieja de Francisco, quien por cierto murió hace unos 20 años atrás si mal no recuerdo. Uno de estos días, quizás en este mismo mes de Mayo, pasé por allí y escuché a mi ángel fotógrafo susurrador decir a mi oído: "Dispara algunas fotos, pronto caerá"...
"Harmony for settings" / "Armonía para ajustar"
Well, I confess I took this photo to check the histogram after making some ISO and aperture adjustments on my camera... But it turns out a nice photo to see in black and white !... And what an impact and drama there ! :)
Bien, confieso que hice esta foto para comprobar el histograma después de hacer algunos ajustes de ISO y apertura en mi cámara... ¡Pero resulta una linda foto para ver en blanco y negro!... ¡Y vaya impacto y drama allí! :)
"The car workshop corpse" / "El cadáver del taller automotriz"
It's strange, rather sad... The years don't pass in vain; of my father's favourite old car repair shop there is only an empty lot full of trash... All the old mechanics were getting old and dying one after the other. Gone were the jokes, the anecdotes and the funny improvisations to repair the cars when spare parts were not available in the local shops... I even took my first car to this place, so that makes me think I've got old too! :)
Es curioso, más bien triste... Los años no pasan en vano; del viejo taller automotriz favorito de mi padre solo queda un lote vacío y repleto de basura... Todos los viejos mecánicos fueron envejeciendo y muriendo uno tras otro, atrás quedaron los chistes, las anécdotas y las curiosas improvisaciones para reparar los autos cuando no se conseguían las piezas de repuesto en las tiendas locales... ¡Incluso yo llevé mi primer auto a este lugar, así que eso me hace pensar que ya me he puesto viejo también! :)
"Maternity" / "Maternidad"
Well, this is not a street photo (although it almost is, because the village is less than 300 mts away from the shooting place) but I wanted to include it in this series because it was an attempt to make a portrait of this baby donkey, but he decided to suck some milk and "sabotaged" my portrait... But what a tender and unexpected photo turned out!....
Bueno, esta no es una foto de calle (aunque casi lo es, porque el pueblo está a menos de 300 mts de lugar de disparo) pero quise incluirla en esta serie debido a que se trató de un intento de hacer un retrato de este bebe burro, pero él decidió mamar un poco de leche y me "saboteó" el retrato... ¡Pero vaya una foto tierna e inesperada resultó!...
"Boulevard in oblivion" / "Bulevar en olvido"
Photos of decay and deterioration are among my favourite things to take on my streets, but this one in particular had origin in my intention to record those wilting flowers on the boulevard... But it turned out to be something more than that!...
Las fotos de decadencia y deterioro están entre mis favoritas para hacer en mis calles, pero esta en particular tuvo su origen en mi intención de registrar esas fotos marchitas sobre el bulevar... ¡Pero resultó en algo más que eso!...
"Fatigue" / "Cansancio"
This is a picture which I did not plan to take, but again that angel whispered in my ear: "shoot there" and then he added: "there comes a time when life can cause tiredness"... So I took the picture and decided not to think any more about it, because I thought that many of those words were referring to myself...
Esta es una foto la cual no pensaba hacer, pero de nuevo ese ángel susurró a mi oído: "dispara allí" y luego agregó: "llega un momento en el cual la vida puede causar cansancio"... Entonces hice la foto y decidí no pensar más nada al respecto, pues pensé que mucha de esas palabras se referían a mi mismo...

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape 3.6.3.
