Let's go back to the good old days, the days when one could mail a letter for 4 cents. Yeah, only 4 cents. Today, postage is $1.07. Talk about inflation being out of control! These stamps were issued in 1947, and 1948. The first stamp commemorates the birth of Alexander Graham Bell. Remember him? The inventor of the telephone, back in 1876.
The second stamp commemorates the 80th anniversary of confederation, and citizenship. In 1947, the Canadian government decided to allow any resident, regardless of country of origin, to obtain citizenship.
The 3rd stamp, who is it? Well it is Queen Elizabeth. Issued in early 1948, it commemorates the marriage of the Queen to Prince Philip Mountbatten. The marriage took place on November 20th, 1947. Which is your favourite?

According to this site, the current postage price is not far off from the melt value of the equivalent silver in the old 80% coins of that era. Of course, silver would also have a higher price if it were also in demand for use as money, so this conceals even more loss in value, I suspect.
Interesting fact! Metals are a good inflation hedge, as we all know.

It is difficult to pick a favourite as all three have had instrumental impact on history, however the one with most effect on history for me would be the Queen...the best design is the one commemorating Mr. Bell.

My favourite the third one. Queen Elizabeth for her stunning looks. But I appreciate the 2nd one, where Canada has allowed for citizenship to natives of other origin. That sounds amazing. Finally my respects for the first stamp as he delivered something very useful to the world.

It is pretty crazy the hit we have taken with inflation and the fact that despite having worse infrastructure to move around it was 4 cents to send.
Our time has been devalued so much and a lot of people don't even see it or understand it fully.

Inflation is nuts. It feels like shit is just melting down and there is no way to stop it. It definitely feels weird being that guy who says, "Back in my days postage was $0.22!"

Who even sends letters anymore anyways? I send some Christmas cards each year, but thats it.
I don't, but I ship a lot of packages in the US and to Japan and the prices are nuts.
