I Went To Pick Palm Kernels In The Farm And Ended Up Capturing Mushrooms!

in FungiFriday23 days ago

Hello everyone, it's been a while here, how are you all doing? The weekend is here and I hope you will have an amazing weekend.
It's fungi Friday so I thought to share this non edible muahroom I captured yesterday, Thursday when I went to pick some bush palm kernels in the farm.

Here you'll find that palm trees grow in almost every piece of land you see. And when they produce fruits and ripen, they usually fall off if not cut on time. Then when they stay on the ground for a long time without anyone picking them up, the fleshy part of it decays leaving only the palm kernels. This type of palm kernel is called aki ọhịa (bush palm kernel). One thing with it is the milky sweet taste it gives, lol. I don't fail to go a picking whenever I find myself in an environment where palm tree grows.

Okay, enough of the palm kernel talk, let me face the business of the day or is it post, lol.
Here's the inedible mushroom, and I'm sure you know that they are usually poisonous so it's not advisable to forage them. Sometimes I wonder why they even have to grow since they can't be eaten but you know, there's always a two sides to a coin.

See how fresh, succulent and whitish they look but they aren't for human consumption, maybe for insects and worms.

I had to pluck one chunk off to have a closer look, but see how blurry it is. My camera was misbehaving, lol. I think they actually look like flowers, and the background made it look beautiful too.

Another shot. You can see that there small ones that are still growing and as it absorbs more water, the growth will increase.

If you take a closer look at this image, you'll see that some of the mushrooms are already getting rotten.
Please pardon the blurry image.

I think this one is clearer although not all are rotten.

Now here's the palm kernels I picked, hehehe.

Do you care for some bush palm kernels? 😅

Just to show you the farm environment. You can see plantain, cocoyam and some trees. I love this environment and I don't fail to visit it as often as I can.

Many thanks for reading, I would love to read your comments.

Hehe this is a bit funny how you went for something else and ended up getting something else in addition. What do you intend to use the mushroom for if I may ask.

They would have been swimming in my pot of nsala soup if they were edible, hehehe.
