Planting the Zsweet Inzanity outdoors

in Canna-Curate16 days ago (edited)

With the forecast showing no more freezing nights, its time to place four cannabis plants in the ground. They have had a month and a half to grow in the tents, so hopefully they will take off and get quite large by end of year. This will be all new to me as I have never grown cannabis outdoors, but every day I will check on them and make sure they get what they need to do well. With a lot of water and feedings I think they will do well. And the long Virginia summer should give them much time to grow big and without the restriction of the grow tent they can get as large as they want.

Starting off I tilled up the ground around where the cannabis plants will be to keep the competing weeds down. Then I staked the spots where I will drill to make plant holes. Spacing out eight feet apart they should have quite a bit of space. From my reading online six feet seems to be enough but I feel like I may need more since I have topped them twice. And that means they will go more bush like than tree like.

Instead of digging the holes, I will drill them. This auger bit attaches to my skidsteer and I can drill holes the length of the bit. A good three feet id say.

Moving the markers I get ready to drill.

Finding the mark I place the bit on the ground and start the drilling process. Applying pressure as the skidsteer holds it in place the hole is drilled within a minute or less.

Time to bring over the potting soil, I am going to use just about a full bag per hole for these plants.

I noticed caterpillars fell into the hole, I had these drilled out for a couple days so interesting to see what wandered in there.

After a few holes are full I use extras from the other bags to fill on the deeper drilled holes. I did not measure how deep to drill, just up to the length of the bit. Though that can be a few inches give or take.

Its time to bring out the plants. I will carefully remove the plants and place them in the holes that are 3/4 of the way full of dirt. Then once in the hole I add more dirt to top them off. Removing the plants from the pots require patience, I drove my hands down the sides inside the pots and scooped under the root system to pull it out in one big chunk. Seemed to work well.. never done this for cannabis so hopefully I did it right.

With all four plants in the ground its time to give them a good watering. They were a bit on the dry side when I brought them out knowing I would be planting its best to keep the soil more dry working with it.

Lol they look so small right now, I wonder how big they will be by October.. Maybe over the fence? Thats more than 8 feet, that would be amazing. Though since I topped them they may just grow more bushy and end up being giant shrubs.

Upon planting I kept an eye on them for the next few hours, no signs of wilting. They seem to have taken the transplant very well. They should stay well protected in the fenced in enclosure. But curious what tries to feed on them on the next few months. I will be ready to deal with it I am sure.

Now we let them grow for many months and naturally they will flower when the time of day changes again in the fall.

Soon it will be time to give them their first fertilizer feeding outdoors. But I think the soil has good nutrients in it, along with the mix from the pots they should do well.

As the morning sun comes up the plants seem to accept it and are happy. I checked on them the next day and so far they are doing well. The soil has settled in the holes making a good water retention area. Glad I planted them to to the top of the ground as I figured a few feet of garden soil would sink a bit.

So I am sitting here in Raleigh NC making a delivery at Food Lion. While enjoying the reading of your post with the windows down and a cool breeze at nightfall. (Photos)

Not sure if your post had the smellavision app applied to it or of someone just beyond that tree line over my shoulder was burning one down. I could smell some herb 🪴 wafting in on the breeze coming from that direction. 😂😉😅😜😳

Hah nice man, hope you have a good haul out there.

They are indeed starting to smell, so maybe.. lol

I don't know much about planting, not to talk about how to plant cannabis, but these transplants look good, and I don't know it takes much process to plant cannabis outdoors. This is good, and I've learned something today.

Thanks, hopefully they will do well.

Glad you learned from my post.

Really cool to follow this plantation!! I had never seen this process of transitioning cannabis from inside greenhouses to planting them in open soil outdoors! Excited to see this growth process! Hoping everything goes well

I am looking forward to how they come along as well, should be interesting.

Thanks

How good it is to see that the plants have finally gone outside.
I really liked the depth you made in the soil and that you filled it with fertile soil for cultivation. I think everything turned out very well. However, I think you should monitor it daily to see its evolution.
I wish you much success dear friend @solominer

I am glad too, its finally time for them to enjoy the spring time here.

Yep I check on them daily and water them regually.

Thank you

very good idea @solominer to take your plants outside, I think that with sun exposure, good watering and daily care, they should grow very well
How beautiful are your equipment for work

I think they will be happy out there.. thanks it is nice to have it.

@solominer!

@bpcvoter3 passed you the virtual joint!

I like farming and have a plan to start after a few years. Your blogs are very helpful for me to learn how you do this. I may not be able to do it on such a big level as you do but I am happy to learn the nitty-gritty of farming. Thanks for sharing about it @solominer

Oh nice, glad you learn from my posts. Happy to share my knowledge.

Going to be beasts! It would be interesting to know if tobacco was once grew. In that spot?

Hah yeah man I think so, its possible. No idea for sure but I think a lot of it was grown in Virginia.

This is going to be really cool to watch. I love outdoor grows and how massive they can get. Good luck man. This is gonna be epic.

Yeah man I am excited to see how this progresses. Hopefully it will be quite nice.

Thanks

If they end up anything like your last grows, they will be amazing.

That was really deep. Wow
I can’t wait to be updated about their growth
Must really grow so well

It sure is, trying to dig that would take a long time.

Yeah cannabis does grow well, its called weed for a reason.. lol

You grow some beautiful plants man, and how you're drilling down to add a good medium and accelerate the root growth is brilliant. I can't wait to see how enormous these get with your process.

Thanks man, hopefully the good dirt and big holes will be the way to go for big plants.

Will do another update post when things progress.

They're looking beautiful.
I believe it works.
The setup is masterful, congratulations.
They will give you fantastic trips 😎🛸

There are machines for farming and growing plants that have become very easy. Also, if this fertilizer is given, then the growth of the plant is also very good. Your post about Planting the Zsweet Inzanity is great. @solominer

Thank you glad you liked my post. I am glad to have the machines I use.

Very extraordinary activities. Of course I really like activities like this.I hope that all the activities you do can run smoothly.

I like the presentation....

I have never seen a real marijuana plant. and in our place it is prohibited
