GELS WITH KARA

in PhotoFeedlast year

After not picking up my camera for nearly two months, I decided to reach out to a friend to try something I hadn't done very much of before, which was playing around with gels on lighting.

** Teal and Orange**
First look was this teal and orange, or maybe it's more blue and orange, I don't know, I'm not great with color names, and I thought it would a good look for my model, Kara, since she has red hair and blue eyes.

Green and Orange

The next look was a little more green and orange, most of this was color pushing was done in editing by playing around with the white balance and some color toning. Capture One is a great tool for playing around with color grading.
I thought these looked very Ivy from Batman and it gave me the idea to do an Ivy themed shoot with Kara at another time.

Pink

Next, I switched to no gel on the key light and a pink gel on a rim light. It took a bit to get the rim light to be where I wanted it to since we were in a very small room and I was pretty limited on placement of the flash.

I like rim light and blue and orange. Nice work, both you. In days gone by, I modeled and I appreciate the art form.
