For one to progress in anything, an element of intentionality is required and growth on Hive is no exception. It does not come by luck.

What is the importance of setting goals?
Goal setting ensures that I have a target I am working towards. This on its own reduces the chances of being distracted along the way. It also gives me the required motivation in those moments when I am down and lacking zeal.
why do you need to do them for this initiative?
Setting goals is very important especially for time bound events like the newbies initiative which is meant to last for 2 months. Two months is a short time and without focus and commitment, it would pass quickly without being maximised. Hence, setting goals would ensure that I have a target which I would work towards on a daily basis to achieve so that at the end of the two months, I would look back and smile.
What makes a goal SMART?
Like I learned during the first class of this initiative, SMART is an acronym for; Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time bound.
Specific; refers to a goal that is well defined.
Measurable; is a goal of which the progress can be measured so that at any given time, you can check how close or far from your goals you are.
Attainable; the goal should be achievable. Especially within the given time-frame.
Relevant; the goal should have an importance attached to it when achieved.
Time-bound; the goal should have an expected time of accomplishment.
What are your goals as regards your Hive power, your followers, your engagement, your consistency, and any other goals as a newbie here on Hive?
As a newbie who has enjoyed his short stay on Hive and is committed to growing on the platform, my goal is to achieve a Hive power of 500HP (currently, I am at 132), a followership of 50 people (I have 39 currently). In terms of engagement, I plan to devote at least 30 minutes for engagement everyday and I plan to publish with a frequency of at least four (4) posts per week.
Other Goals
Reputation;
I want to attain a reputation of at least 64 before these two months are over. Currently, I am at 60.
Contests; I want to keep participating and winning contests across various communities on hive. Already, I have won a good number of them, at least 7 and I plan to build on this number by winning at least 7 more before this initiative is over by participating in weekly and weekend contests as often as is possible to do so, following the rules and putting in the effort to be the best or among the best.
Onboarding; I have brought in about 5 friends already and I plan to bring in at least 5 more before two months elapse for them to join me in witnessing the beauty of the Blockchain.
what makes them SMART GOALS?
They are SPECIFIC goals because they have well defined set points.
The are MEASURABLE because the progress can be objectively accessed.
What makes these goals ATTAINABLE is because with my current status mentioned and my goals stated, it is visible that I am not far from the goals and hence they can be achieved.
They are RELEVANT because achieving these goals are crucial to my growth on Hive, both in terms of Hive power, reputation, engagement and followership.
Of course these goals are linked to the duration of the newbies initiative (two months) which makes them TIME BOUND
That is to say that these goals are SMART.
What strategies do you want to put in place to achieve your goals?
Engagement
I would continue to engage optimally with my fellow creators on hive across the various communities that interest me thereby maintaining visibility on the platform.
Curation
With my little power, I will upvote quality posts and gain curation rewards in doing so.
Posting
I would publish at least four quality posts per week.
Power Up
I also plan to power Up my Hives and HBD at least twice within the duration of this initiative to help me achieve my HP goals.
I will do all these because they are in my power while I hope to get the necessary upvotes that would drive my account to achieve greater milestones.
I want to end by appreciating the wonderful team behind this initiative to help accelerate the growth of newbies and for deeming me worthy to be part of it.

Your goals are attainable, if you put your mind and your time, hive requires thorough engagement and by doing this you are creating a bond between you and other users, hive is very broad and I wish you a lovely journey on hive.
