This evening I did another four hour shift of door knocking. About an hour in, it began to sprinkle a bit, but then thunder and lightening and a downpour. I found shelter and watch marble sized hail fall to the ground among all the rain.
It's funny on such a warm day, finding ice falling from the sky. I was actually getting pretty warm, sweating in the sunshine. The ice was very refreshing, cooled everything down very quickly.
Even under shelter, the water splashing on the ground got me pretty wet. I ran to the car once the rain let up, but my shoes and socks got pretty drenched as it was near impossible to avoid the puddles. I got to the car, turned on the heat for a while until I dried out, then turned on the AC to cool down. Worked pretty well!
Friends for the Journey
I still had a few hours of work to do, the sun came out and warmed everything right back up. I found a couple of snails and I brought them along for the journey.
They had fun slithering around the dashboard of the car, exploring their new space.
They have pretty shells, black and yellow stripped. So cool!
They are nice creatures, but they better stay away from our garden!

I don't think I'd much enjoy the snails or the hail! Hail always used to scare me - you never know if it will be pea size or grow and become baseball size. Glad it was small and over quickly!
