Susutzi

No. seven of the Gods of my Nightmares

The sky is black as you crawl in the wet grass. It looks like an ordinary salt meadow, but something is not right. It smells of burning plastic. The ropes from ships and bells creak when the wind moves what they are moored to. You are struggling with one of the ropes that is entangled with your leg and with the roots of an old willow tree. She is coming.

What does she want from us? Is there some sort of symbiotic relationship between gods and believers? I thought Neil Gaiman's American Gods was a good take on that. I read the book ages ago and have seen some of the TV series.

Yes, that's interesting. It is a thought that are sported in many fantasy and scifi books - that the Gods live on belief, that they feed from us devotion.

Contrary to that is the fear of God and Gods that existed before. No motive analysis back then :)

Susutzi is ancient in that regard. As is the horror nightmares. Primal fear.

P.S. I love Gaiman's books too.

I'm gradually working through the Sandman books and various gods appear there. We just watched the spin-off Dead Boy Detectives where a couple of the Endless pop up. Gaiman has obviously studied the various religions and myths deeply. I like that you are creating your own mythologies.

I share that interest with Gaiman, no doubt about that. Religion and mythology is like any other speculation about the world a source to understanding humans. We are a strange bunch! I think that is why I also do this experiment. To examine my own limitations and borders, consciousness and cognitions.

And thank you. I am really happy about all the comments I am getting here. It makes it more interesting.

Eeks! This one is the creepiest yet! Your narrative adds to that effect. To me, it looks like she has a womb designed to birth large snakes, rapid fire, at will. I better get out of there.

I just started to write some of the images that came to me. In a way this is the classic nightmare - banal as a post about a meal.

It's like you have started something special, we learn a lot every day when we see new paintings and read your articles.

Thanks. I happy that you enjoy it!

They look creative. 👍👍
