Mérida forma parte de los Andes venezolanos, está emplazada sobre una terraza aluvial, una formación geológica de gran importancia, una muestra más de lo mágica y majestuosa que es la naturaleza. Hello friends of Hive Argentina, what a pleasure to greet you again. I am happy to join this initiative and take you to travel a small part of my beloved land. Merida Venezuela.
Mérida is part of the Venezuelan Andes, it is located on an alluvial terrace, a geological formation of great importance, another example of how magical and majestic nature is. The photo above was taken from the viewpoint at the Paseo las Ferias, right in the center of the city. Would you like to meet here to start our tour?
Desde el mirador del paseo de las ferias, caminaremos un poco hasta el sector las Heroínas, espero que te guste caminar tanto como a mí, porque en serio adoro recorrer estas calles, sin importar cuantas veces lo haga, siempre descubro algo diferente, algo que tal vez había pasado desapercibido antes mis ojos.
Las Heroínas es uno de los sectores turísticos más importantes de la ciudad. Aquí, podemos encontrar distintas opciones de hospedaje, disfrutar de esta hermosa plaza, que fue construida en homenaje a 05 mujeres heroínas, que fueron una parte importante de nuestra de independencia. Este es un sitio de encuentro, un lugar para disfrutar, recrearse y salir de la rutina, uno de los favoritos de los niños, ya que los fines de semana hacen diversas actividades para los más pequeños de la casa. Pero además de la plaza podrás disfrutar del Mercado Artesanal y admirar el arte tallado en madera y disfrutar del Mirador La Cuesta de las Heroínas, desde donde tienes vistas increíbles de algunos centros poblados de Mérida.
From the viewpoint of the promenade of the fairs, we will walk a little to the Heroínas sector, I hope you like walking as much as I do, because I really love walking these streets, no matter how many times I do it, I always discover something different, something that perhaps had gone unnoticed before my eyes.
The Heroines is one of the most important tourist areas of the city. Here, we can find different lodging options, enjoy this beautiful square, which was built as a tribute to 05 women heroines, who were an important part of our independence. This is a meeting place, a place to enjoy, recreate and get out of the routine, a favorite of children, as on weekends there are various activities for the little ones of the house. But besides the plaza you can enjoy the Artisan Market and admire the art carved in wood and enjoy the Mirador La Cuesta de las Heroínas, from where you have incredible views of some of the towns of Mérida.
En las Heroínas encontramos también la primera estación del teleférico más alto del mundo (4765 metros sobre el nivel del mar) con un trayecto de 12.5 km. Aquí podemos admirar las imponentes montañas de la sierra nevada, mientras descubres cómo funciona este sistema teleférico. Les confieso que nunca he ascendido al teleférico, tengo planeado hacerlo al final de este año o comienzo del próximo, porque quiero vivir esta experiencia por primera vez, al lado de mi hijo y él aún no tiene 05 años, por lo que no lo dejan llegar hasta la última estación.
In the Heroines we also find the first station of the highest cable car in the world (4765 meters above sea level) with a distance of 12.5 km. Here we can admire the imposing mountains of the Sierra Nevada, while discovering how this cable car system works. I confess that I have never climbed the cable car, I plan to do it at the end of this year or beginning of next year, because I want to live this experience for the first time, with my son and he is not yet 05 years old, so they do not let him get to the last station.
Después de disfrutar de la frescura y esa bocanada de aire fresco que este mirador te ofrece. Es momento de conocer el centro histórico y deleitarnos con su arquitectura inspirada en el estilo colonial español. La mayoría de las edificaciones importantes como la Basílica, el Palacio del gobierno y la Universidad de los Andes son obras del arquitecto Manuel Mujica Millán. Siempre he admirado sus obras, puedes conocer más detalles de ellas en mi blog.
En la siguiente imagen, pueden observar el contraste que podemos encontrar en el casco histórico, edificaciones llenas de historia, casas coloniales y, por otro lado, algunos edificios de la arquitectura moderna, como el C.C. History Center, donde podemos ir a comer algo delicioso.
After enjoying the freshness and the breath of fresh air that this viewpoint offers. It is time to visit the historic center and enjoy its architecture inspired by the Spanish colonial style. Most of the important buildings such as the Basilica, the Government Palace and the University of the Andes are the work of the architect Manuel Mujica Millán. In the following image, you can see the contrast that we can find in the historic center, buildings full of history, colonial houses and, on the other hand, some buildings of modern architecture, such as the C.C. History Center, where we can go to eat something delicious.
Mérida es conocida como una universidad con una ciudad por dentro, y sería inevitable no llevarte a conocer a la que fue mi casa por varios años y que aún seguirá siéndolo, porque soy Ulandina de corazón. Te presento el Rectorado de la Universidad de los Andes, una parada obligatoria, no solo por su arquitectura. Aquí encontrarás algunos museos y galerías de arte, mucha historia y datos interesantes.
Mérida is known as a university with a city inside, and it would be inevitable not to take you to visit what was my home for several years and still will be, because I am an Ulandina at heart. I present to you the Rectorate of the Universidad de los Andes, a mandatory stop, not only for its architecture. Here you will find some museums and art galleries, a lot of history and interesting facts.
Ahora es el momento de subir a un autobús y dirigirnos al norte de la ciudad, te llevaré al parque zoológico los chorros de milla, un lugar donde puedes conectar con la naturaleza y el rico clima de bosque nublado, aquí residen algunas especies de la fauna andina en peligro de extinción, como el cóndor o el oso frontino u oso de anteojos, pero lo que más me gusta de este parque son sus cascadas. Además, están incluyendo nuevas actividades e incluso construyeron una zona glamping, para quienes deseen pasar la noche.
Now it's time to get on a bus and head north of the city, I will take you to the zoological park los chorros de milla, a place where you can connect with nature and the rich cloud forest climate, here reside some endangered species of the Andean fauna, such as the condor or the spectacled bear, but what I like most about this park are its waterfalls. In addition, they are including new activities and even built a glamping area for those who wish to spend the night.
Después de conectar con la naturaleza, te invito a conocer el mercado principal. Si vienes a Mérida, tienes que pasar por el mercado y deleitarte con los dulces tradicionales, la artesanía y por qué no elegir un recuerdo para que lleves de regalo. Aquí también puedes encontrar comida deliciosa y tradicional, comer pastelitos andinos o probar el tradicional levantón andino, una bebida que tiene más de 30 ingredientes, algunos un poco extraños. ¿Te animarías a tomarla?, ¡Yo aún no me atrevo!
After connecting with nature, I invite you to visit the main market. If you come to Mérida, you have to stop by the market and delight yourself with traditional sweets, handicrafts and why not choose a souvenir to take as a gift. Here you can also find delicious and traditional food, eat Andean pastries or try the traditional Andean levantón, a drink that has more than 30 ingredients, some of them a bit strange. Would you dare to drink it, I still don't dare!
Después de pasar un rato maravilloso, quisiera llevarte a conocer la Laguna Rosa, y culminar desde aquí este bonito recorrido. Conocer todo lo que Mérida tiene por ofrecer lleva mucho más que un día. Soy el mejor ejemplo de esto, que aún soy turista en mi propia tierra.
After having a wonderful time, I would like to take you to visit the Rose Lagoon, and finish this beautiful tour from here. Getting to know all that Merida has to offer takes much more than a day. I am the best example of this, that I am still a tourist in my own land.

Amiga, una entrada espectacular, me encanta Merida y gracias a Dios pude conocer un poco de tu ciudad y es realmente hermosa como nos muestras.
Hice un pequeño tour, pero hay muchísimas cosas por conocer y probar.
Fui a ese mercado y el poco dinero que llevé lo gaste en dulces y artesanías para regalar, jejeje.
Para mi, una mini botella de ponche crema, más rico.
Si, amiga en el mercado se encuentran muchas cosas, lo que hace falta es dinero. Espero vuelvas un pronto para que sigas conociendo.
