May arrives and with that begins the sixth month in which I am on a nomadic trip. It's incredible how quickly time goes by when you're having fun, and looking back a little, I can say that I am very grateful for everything I experienced. It is the first time in my life that I spend the entire summer outside my house, walking and enjoying the beautiful landscapes of my country. But now that winter is approaching in this part of the world, the dynamics of travel change and there are not so many walks anymore, because with this weather, it is more tempting to stay inside sheltered from the rain and snow 😅.
Llega mayo y con eso empieza el sexto mes en el que estoy de viaje nómada. Es increíble lo rápido que pasa el tiempo cuando uno se divierte, y mirando un poco hacia atrás, puedo decir que estoy muy agradecida con todo lo que viví. Es la primera vez en mi vida que paso todo el verano fuera de mi casa, paseando y disfrutando de los hermosos paisajes de mi país. Pero ahora que se acerca el invierno en esta parte del mundo, la dinámica del viaje cambia y ya no hay tantos paseos, porque con este clima, resulta más tentador quedarse adentro resguardado de la lluvia y la nieve 😅.
This year, the change of season in southern Argentina was quite precise. When the month of March arrived, the heat ended almost overnight. This was the month I chose to move to another city and I spent two incredible months there, where the cold was present but just enough to continue taking advantage of the outdoors. As this part of my trip is almost over, at the beginning of the month of May I decided to return to the hostel where I stayed for most of the summer, to slowly get closer to my house. I liked coming back, because I have many friends in this city, but the weather definitely affects the dynamics of this place a lot 😅.
Este año, el cambio de estación en el sur de Argentina fue bastante preciso. Cuando llegó el mes de marzo, el calor se terminó casi de un día para otro. Este fue el mes que elegí para mudarme de ciudad y allá pasé dos meses increíbles, donde el frio estuvo presente pero en la medida justa para seguir aprovechando el aire libre. Como esta parte de mi viaje ya esta a punto de terminar, en el inicio del mes de mayo decidí regresar al hostel en donde estuve gran parte del verano, para ir acercándome poco a poco a mi casa. Me gustó volver, porque tengo muchos amigos en esta ciudad, pero definitivamente el clima afecta mucho la dinámica de este lugar 😅.
The summer here was incredible, with pure sunny and hot days to enjoy extensive walks in the mountains, days of cooling off in the river and afternoons in the squares. In the evenings, we always had a different event: music, art, circus, movies, whatever. Any plan was good, since there were many people everywhere, coming and going, a sign that this season is the favorite for tourists. I was very happy to have been part of it: I was always in a good mood and met many new people as part of my own trip and also being a receptionist at the hostel I lived in all that time ❤️.
El verano acá fue increíble, con puros días soleados y calurosos para disfrutar de extensas caminatas en la montaña, días de refrescarse en el río y tardes en las plazas. Por las noches, siempre teníamos un evento diferente: música, arte, circo, cine, lo que sea. Cualquier plan era bueno, ya que había mucha gente por todos lados, yendo y viniendo, señal de que esa estación es la preferida para los turistas. Me alegró mucho haber sido parte de eso: siempre estuve de buen humor y conocí a muchas personas nuevas como parte de mi propio viaje y también siendo recepecionista del hostel en el que viví todo ese tiempo ❤️.
Now that I'm back, in the middle of autumn, everything is definitely very, very different. I could say that the town seems like a ghost town: no one is around, except the local residents. Since most of the houses are vacation homes, everything is empty and silent. There is no longer a trace of all those parties that there were, nor of the crowds of people in each place. As if that were not enough, this time of year is characterized by being very rainy and with occasional snow, so bad weather is more common than good. I came back here five days ago and it still hasn't stopped raining, so all I did was hang out with my friends drinking tea all day and playing cards, since much else can't be done 😅.
Ahora que volví, en la mitad del otoño, sin dudas todo es muy, muy diferente. Podría decir que el pueblo parece una ciudad fantasma: no anda nadie, más que los propios vecinos del lugar. Como la mayoría de las casas son de vacaciones, todo está vacío y en silencio. Ya no queda ni un rastro de todas esas fiestas que habían, ni de los amontonamientos de gente en cada lugar. Como si fuera poco, esta época del año se caracteriza por ser muy lluviosa y con nieve ocasional, por lo que el mal clima es más común que el bueno. Volví acá hace cinco días y todavia no paró de llover ni uno, así que todo lo que hice fue estar con mis amigos tomando té todo el día y jugando cartas, ya que mucho más no se puede hacer 😅.
Although on other occasions I made trips in the low seasons of each place, I was always lucky that on at least those days, the good weather was with us. Plus, those trips were with my best friend and only lasted a few days, so we were always on the go to make the most of our stay. That's why I didn't notice how "quiet" a place can be out of season, but now that I plan to stay here for a few days, I see it clearly. I wouldn't say it's "boring", just enjoyable in a different way 🙂.
A pesar de que en otras oportunidades hice viajes en las temporadas bajas de cada lugar, siempre tuve la suerte de que en al menos esos días, el buen clima nos acompañaba. Además, esos viajes eran con mi mejor amiga y solo duraban unos pocos días, por lo que siempre estábamos en movimiento para aprovechar al máximo nuestra estadía. Es por eso que no notaba lo "tranquilo" que puede ser un lugar fuera de temporada, pero ahora que tengo planeado quedarme algunos días por acá, lo veo claramente. No diría que es "aburrido", solo que se disfruta de otra forma 🙂.
Maybe I took calming down too seriously this time, so I hardly even turned on the computer these days and just took the opportunity to relax and live day to day. My finances are good and I have enough margin to allow myself a few days of leisure, so I took advantage of them. Plus, with the constant rain, it's a little harder to get out of bed and the plan of lying in bed watching Netflix becomes more than tempting. I think I've had enough days as an adventurer and some time as a hermit won't hurt me: after all, that also counts as experience within this lifestyle 😅.
Quizás me tomé la calma demasiado en serio esta vez, por lo que casi ni prendí la computadora estos días y solo aproveché para relajarme y vivir el día a día. Mis finanzas están bien y tengo margen suficiente como para permitirme unos días de ocio, así que los aproveché. Además, con la lluvia constante, cuesta un poco más salir de la cama y el plan de estar acostado mirando Netflix se vuelve más que tentador. Pienso que tuve suficientes días de aventurera y un tiempo de hermitaña no me van a hacer mal: después de todo, eso también cuenta como experiencia dentro de este estilo de vida 😅.

Aprovechar al máximo, y ver Netflix es parte de ello y una gran experiencia también. Por este lado también está el invierno convirtiéndose en el plan perfecto para los días que no me toca trabajar.
