Hello people of Hive,
We left a few weeks ago with a post about the village of the mills of Zaanse Schans in
Holland. I wanted to continue to talk about my trip to Holland and precisely to Amsterdam,
but.... I am on holiday in Southern Italy so I can absolutely not tell you about these wonderful
holidays.

ci siamo lasciati qualche settimana fa con un post sul villaggio dei mulini di
Zaanse Schans in Olanda, avrei voluto continuare a parlarvi del mio viaggio in
Olanda e precisamente ad Amsterdam, ma....... sono in vacanza in sud Italia
quindi non posso assolutamente non raccontarvi di queste meravigliose
vacanze.
During these holidays in which we went down to the south, in Calabria, to find relatives, we took time to visit Sicily, as we do every year.
In this post I want to talk about the Bioparco di Sicilia, a theme park for animals, which we recommended to the owner of the B&B where we stayed.
We were in Terrasini, in the province of Palermo, a very quiet and beautiful seaside town. Our B & B was wonderful and welcoming. If you are in the area you absolutely must book here, I will leave you the link which is called " Tra le braccia di Morfeo ". https://www.tralebracciadimorfeo.eu/
Durante queste vacanze in cui siamo scesi al sud, in Calabria, per trovare dei parenti, ci
siamo ritagliati del tempo per visitare la Sicilia, come facciamo ogni anno.
In questo post vi voglio parlare del Bioparco di Sicilia, un parco tematico per gli animali, che
ci ha consigliato il proprietario del B&B dove abbiamo alloggiato.
Noi ci trovavamo in località Terrasini, in provincia di Palermo, una città sul mare molto
tranquilla e bella. Il nostro B&B era meraviglioso e accogliente, se siete in zona dovete

Il Bioparco
The concept of the bioparc is educational, it differs a little from what is the
logic of zoos that are closer to a museum, where you go to see animals but in
a very passive way, here you are an integral part of the park, see the way
animals live in their environment and the goal remains reintegration into their
natural habitat.
The bioparc is divided into various areas, the zoo, the educational farm, the
botanical garden and the land of dinosaurs.
Once inside, we were advised to first visit the part of the zoo with the
savannah area.
There were many varieties of birds, turtles, the hippopotamus but the part that
struck me most was the lemur enclosure. Here there was the possibility,
through a tube, to enter a glass pyramid that was right in the center of the
fence, and so see the animals more carefully and interact with them.
Il Bioparco
Il concetto del bioparco è educativo, si distacca un po’ da quella che è la
logica degli zoo che si avvicinano più quasi a un museo, dove ti rechi per
vedere gli animali ma in modo molto passivo, qui ti trovi parte integrante del
parco, vedi il modo in cui gli animali vivono nel loro ambiente e l'obiettivo
rimane il reinserimento nel proprio habitat naturale.
Il bioparco si divide in varie aree, lo zoo, la fattoria didattica, il giardino
botanico e la terra dei dinosauri.
Una volta entrati, ci è stato consigliato di visitare per prima la parte dello zoo
con la zona savana.
C’erano tantissime varietà di uccelli, tartarughe, l’ippopotamo ma la parte che
mi ha più colpito è stato il recinto dei lemuri. Qui c’era la possibilità, tramite un
tubo, di entrare in una piramide in vetro che si trovava proprio al centro del
recinto, e così vedere con più attenzione gli animali e interagire con loro.
After visiting this part, we headed to the educational farm, to get there you
have to walk a long path outlined by beautiful olive trees. Many animals here,
also there was just the opportunity to approach the fences and be able to feed
the animals, obviously paying attention.
We then stopped for a short picnic, the bioparco is equipped with areas
covered with tables where you can stop to eat, alternatively there is an area
with a bar if you do not want to bring packed lunch.
In that area there is also a bookshop where you can take a souvenir, obviously
my primate-loving daughter took three more monkeys to add to the collection.
Dopo aver visitato questa parte, ci siamo diretti verso la fattoria didattica, per
arrivarci bisogna percorrere un lungo percorso delineato da bellissime piante
d’ulivo. Tantissimi qui gli animali, inoltre c’era proprio la possibilità di
avvicinarsi ai recinti e di poter dar da mangiare agli animali, ovviamente
prestando attenzione.
Ci siamo poi fermati per un breve pic nic, il bioparco è attrezzato con delle
zone coperte con tavolini dove è possibile fermarsi a mangiare, in alternativa
c’è una zona con bar se non si vuole portare pranzo al sacco.
In quella zona c’è anche un bookshop dove è possibile prendere un souvenir,
ovviamente mia figlia amante dei primati, ha preso altre tre scimmie da
aggiungere alla collezione.
Last part of our visit was dedicated to the area of dinosaurs, a reconstruction
of the various species and different types of dinosaurs, very interesting to
approach children and make them understand something that is no longer
there.
The bioparc is very interesting, it is located in Carini in the province of
Palermo, so if you are in the area it is definitely worth a visit.
The ticket price is really low, 8.50€ for adults and 6.50€ for children from 2 to
14 years.
I recommend wearing comfortable shoes and if you go in the summer, as I did,
to bring a hat and drink a lot of water because the temperatures are a bit 'high.

Ultima parte della nostra visita l’abbiamo dedicata alla visita dell’area dedicata
ai dinosauri, una ricostruzione delle varie specie e tipologie diverse di
dinosauri, molto interessante per avvicinare i bambini e far comprendere
qualcosa che ora non c’è più.
Il bioparco è molto interessante, si trova a Carini in provincia di Palermo,
quindi se siete in zona merita assolutamente una visita.
Il costo del biglietto è veramente basso, 8,50€ per gli adulti e 6,50€ per bambini
dal 2 ai 14 anni.
Consiglio di portare scarpe comode e se si va in estate, come ho fatto io, di
portare anche un cappellino e bere molta acqua perchè le temperature sono un
po’ elevate.
