Today, we visited Hengistbury Head, which is a headland and nature reserve between Bournemouth and Mudeford and receives many visitors, especially when the weather is good. Around this area, there are footpaths, heathland, grasslands, woodlands, and salt marshes. In the distance, the highest point is on the cliff top, with great views from the top.
As it was a week day, we had the beach to ourselves apart from a few people. I can imagine on a hot day at the weekend it would be a lot busier.
As we sat on the beach soaking up the sun, our attention was drawn towards a man and woman walking past us with photography equipment and an ironing board! They placed the camera on the ironing board, so we just thought they were protecting the camera from the sand, although it was a little over the top. They then set the camera and tripod up, aiming the camera at the sea. We couldn't see anything of interest as to what they were photographing. Then the man put a yellow and black stripey jumper on, which made him look similar to the "Where's Wally" character. Then he put a tin foil helmet and a mask on and promptly went into the sea with the ironing board and started to pretend to iron some trousers!
I couldn't tell whether he was supposed to be a spaceman or the creature from the black lagoon!
So whether it was some art project they were doing or just some random YouTubers having a laugh, it didn't really matter. Sometimes the best art comes from the most unexpected places.
Meanwhile, I think the pooch was digging the biggest hole ever.
After a couple of hours sat on the beach, we added a pebble to the pebble art on the groyne, and then packed up our things to leave, not forgetting to fill up the hole in the sand before some unsuspecting person fell in it!
