Hello traveler friends and sporty friends!!
Finally, yesterday after a long time, I managed to go on a nice bike ride. It wasn't a very challenging one because I'm quite out of shape, but let's say I did something nice. Moreover, it was a really beautiful sunny day after many days of rain, and the temperature was also perfect, around 22 degrees.
I started the ride with a dear friend from Milan to Alba. The goal was to reach Peschiera del Garda as quickly as possible, a place I've surely mentioned before. From there, after parking the car, we rode our bikes on the bike path from Peschiera del Garda to the city of Mantua, passing through Valeggio sul Mincio.
It's one of the most famous and I think most frequented bike paths in Italy, but it’s best to do it around this time because in the following months it can get quite hot, and without shade in this area, you can suffer a lot from the heat and humidity. Anyway, I was quite prepared yesterday, bringing about 2 liters of water, because I think it's important to stay well-hydrated.
During the ride, I managed to take a few photos to share with you here. Not too many, because I always try to disconnect from technology when I'm immersed in these bike paths. I expected a bit more people on this bike path, which is usually very busy, but there were just about the right number of people.
The path isn’t very wide, so if there are too many people, you risk bumping into each other. Nevertheless, it's a route I recommend because you pass through beautiful places, both from a naturalistic and historical point of view. I was also very happy to have found the right companion for this ride because sometimes, in my opinion, the difficulty when going on these trips is finding the right partner who matches your speed and rhythm. Honestly, I'm not someone who rides fast because I also want to admire the surrounding landscape, and I never see it as a competition.
After lunch, by the way, I forgot to take pictures to show you what I ate, but it was a fairly light pasta dish. When I'm biking, I usually eat energy bars along the way and don’t think it’s wise to fill up on more carbs.
In conclusion, I was very happy to have done this route, but especially to have taken up biking again after a long time. I realized that if you don't keep up with training, you risk struggling a lot. This ride was much easier because we did half of the bike path, which is about 54 km round trip to Mantua. I think doing it all in one day is a bit difficult, but I want to try it again, maybe staying overnight in Mantua.
