A Freezing Solo Trip to Highest Peak of Indochina - Fansipan, Sapa Vietnam

in Pinmapple4 months ago (edited)

Hi Hivers and fellow travellers!! What's up? It has been a while. I have been busy lately with my job but now I found time to get back on my seat to write a blog and show you about my recent trip to Fansipan.

Fansipan

A little information about Fansipan. Fansipan is located in SaPa, Northern Vietnam and it is like the king of all mountains in the Indochina Peninsula. Super tall, standing at 3,143 meters above sea level.

Solo Trip

I was with my friends during my trip to Vietnam. We were about to fly back to Taiwan and the Philippines the next day, but I quickly fell in love with this place. So out of impulsiveness, I told my friends that they could leave without me and I would stay here for a few more days to explore SaPa and grab the opportunity to step on top of Fansipan.

It isn't easy to come to this place, I'd rather extend my stay to make the most out of it.

Begining of the Journey

There are two ways to get there. One is by hiking which will take almost 5-8 hours; while another is riding the cable car from the Sun Plaza in the SaPa city center.

I only have a day to do this trip and I have to get back to Hanoi by night for my next day flight. And at this point, I am still tired of the Ha Giang loop. So I decided to take the cable car instead. Besides, I just can't hike.

I just chose to relax and enjoy the place. So bought a ticket to ride the cable car costing 950,000 VND around 38 USD.

Before I rode the cable car, I first had to ride this tram that took me to the Fansipan Legend where the cable car started. Fansipan Legend is like an amusement park and they operate the tram and cable car that takes the tourists to the top of the mountain.

Riding this tram while the railway is being covered by thick clouds was quite boring yet the vibe is very appealing to take good photos.

After the tram ride, I arrived in this part of Fansipan Legend where tourists enjoy taking pictures with the displays while enjoying the cool effect of the fog around us. There are also horseback riding activities and I've seen some street performances.

Riding the Cable Car

This is the terminal of the cable car. Imagine how cold was it when I was there by looking at the fog. I think it was around 2C.

We were only 6 passengers in one car that could carry around 20 passengers at once.

The weather wasn't on my side that day. It was very cold and cloudy, so while riding the cable car, I already set my mind not to expect a spectacular view from the top. Still, I could see a good view from the car and managed to take some cool photos.

The Highest Peak of Indochina

After a 20 minutes cable car ride, I was greeted by this golden budha. As I was expecting, the place is mysteriously covered by thick fog or should I rather say inside the clouds?

I am quite amazed to see a temple situated here on top of a 3000, mountain. The fog made it look very mysterious and sacred.

Finally, A few walks and stairs from there I reached the flag pole where the peak plaque is located. It wasn't raining but we are definitely inside the cloud and I can barely see the flag.

And here am I, as a hiker I am happy enough to step on top of this mountain with a little frustration not witnessing the beauty of whatever surrounds it. So I just asked a random tourist to take a photo of me then walk around the platform.

To add some fun during my stay in this place, I decided to goof around while carrying the Vietnamese flag and record myself with my 360 camera. Also, to share with my friends and family what it looks like to be there, especially to share in my blog.

Thanks for reading through! Much love! ❤️😊

Omg, look at all those fogs, it's so thick, I think even with thick jacket, the coldness will still get in through inside the jacket, whoa whoa! It's really awesome in there, its really just foggy. And seems liie you really enjoy your little escapade in there

Wow, the climb is really exciting, but you won't get bored riding the cable car. Even if I go there, I will definitely choose the cable car so that visitors don't get too tired from climbing. thank you for sharing

This is a painfully undervalued post. Almost disgusting how ignored it is. Your photography is pretty good, the experience you shared is unique to Hive, and the text only adds to it. Keep it up!

It seems like I may have unintentionally violated a community rule in this post because I included a separately posted video of mine from 3Speak. However, I removed it after I got notified.

Still disappointing to see it didn't get the curation it deserved. Though lately I have seen that Hive curation is a bit in a rough spot, seems a lot of people aren't really getting seen. Could just be the early start to the year.

Well yeah, it is what it is. Thanks for your insights.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I truly appreciate your support and encouragement. Your positive feedback means a lot to me.
