Hey! What's up Hivers and Pineapple peeps! I am here again to share with you my experience on my 4-day Ha Giang motorcycling loop in Vietnam. This time is the second day of the loop when I and my friends drive from Yen Minh to Meo Vac. In this blog, I am going to share with you the amazing pictures I took and some videos of the amazing roads of Ha Giang.

To tease you, here is a short drone clip that I made showing you how beautiful the roads are in this part of our trip. Enjoy!

The Roads to Meo Vac

Day Two

It was the second day of our trip, I woke up very early in the morning from the noise of the locals who surprisingly started their day as early as 4 AM. I did my best to get more sleep at that time as we had a very challenging first day of the trip that I talked about in my last blog Day 1 of Ha Giang Loop.

It was a gloomy morning, the small town of Yen Minh was covered by clouds and foggy. At that time, I was afraid that the weather would be against us although the weather forecast tells the other way.

When the clock hit 6 AM, I decided to get out of the hotel to grab breakfast and a very strong coffee in a nearby restaurant. In Vietnam, I like how chill people are. You can see the men sitting in front of me while chatting very calmly. Moments like this make the time very slow.

Hitting the Road

With all the good luck and high hopes for a better road and weather that we are wishing for, our trip started with this traffic on an under-construction road. It was just about 15 minutes from our starting point when we arrived here just to wait for 30 minutes of traffic due to an ongoing road construction in front of us.

Hmong Tribe Flower Market

After the road construction, the journey proceeded very smoothly until we reached our first stop at the Hmong Flower Market at the end of a winding road. Here, we saw a Hmong tribe selling their local produce, including clothing, food, and flowers.

The experience became particularly unique as I felt immersed in a deep cultural aspect of a foreign country.

It was one of the most surreal experiences I've had on this trip, as we were surrounded by beautiful mountains that gave off vibes of being somewhere outside of Southeast Asia. Adding to the enchantment, there was a group of kids nearby playing their flutes in harmony, making the ambiance even more captivating.

Meanwhile, I took the opportunity to fly my drone and capture some captivating pictures and videos of the winding road behind us.

Lunch on the Mountain Top Road

After a few hours of driving from the flower market, we reached the top of a mountain where we found a perfect restaurant to have our lunch break.

When I was about to pay for my food, the owner noticed my Taiwan paper bills and asked me to use that money instead of Vietnamese paper bills. It was a humorous moment, considering my currency had a higher value than the local one, so I requested an extra sausage to cover the difference. She was so happy.

The Border Between China and Vietnam

vlcsnap-2024-03-26-00h01m16s886.png

For our last stop before heading to Mea Vac, we went for a side trip at the border of China and Vietnam. Aside from the border between China and Vietnam, this place is also the northernmost point of Vietnam. That made me more excited and happy to set foot in this place.

Nestled here is a giant flag pole, the border itself, and an under-construction castle??? (please educate me, my Vietnamese readers, 😅)

Here is a photo of an officer pointing in the direction of the gate to the land of China.

Another interesting thing that piqued my attention is the AK-47 that the officers are carrying. This type of rifle is uncommon for me to see as officers in my country are using M-16 rifles. The AK-47 looks super cool to me because I always use it in Counter-Strike Strike lol!
