When you are in a place with so many beautiful spaces and corners to see and get to know, it is impossible to get bored. Also, if we consider the fact that the day can have more than 18 hours of daylight, we have plenty of time to do outdoor activities. This was the perfect combination for me who likes to be quite active all the time, and so I stayed that way until the last moment, taking advantage of every free moment to do something. Nearing the end of the trip, one of the spots I had yet to see was the Turquoise Lagoon, and I was glad I had made a trip there because it was beautiful ❤️.
Cuando estás en un lugar con tantos espacios y rincones hermosos para ver y conocer, aburrirse es imposible. Además, si consideramos el hecho de que el día puede tener más de 18 horas de luz, tenemos tiempo de sobra para hacer actividades al aire libre. Esta fue la combinación perfecta para mí que me gusta estar bastante activa todo el tiempo, y así me mantuve hasta el último momento, aprovechando cada rato libre para hacer algo. Casi llegando al final del viaje, uno de los puntos que me faltaba ver era la Laguna Turquesa, y me alegró haber hecho una escapada hasta ahí porque era hermosa ❤️.
The day I took the $32 group tour with Sandra, the local guide in Ushuaia, we had the opportunity to visit a lot of beautiful places in the outskirts of the city. This tour was very productive because I was able to visit the Bridal Veil Waterfall, the Garibaldi Pass with a viewpoint to the Escondido Lake and the Fagnano Lake, some of the must-see places in this area. We were together for almost six hours walking back and forth, but when we got back to the hostel, I still wanted to continue touring places. That's why I asked him to drop me off halfway on the road, right where the trail to Turquoise Lagoon starts 😃.
El día que hice el tour grupal de $32 con Sandra, la guía local de Ushuaia, tuvimos la oportunidad de recorrer un montón de lugares hermosos en las afueras de la ciudad. Este paseo fue muy productivo porque pude conocer la Cascada Velo de Novia, el Paso Garibaldi con mirador al Lago Escondido y el Lago Fagnano, unos de los lugares imperdibles en esta zona. Estuvimos juntos durante casi seis horas paseando de acá para allá, pero al estar de regreso al hostel, yo todavía tenía ganas de seguir recorriendo lugares. Fue por eso que le pedí que me dejara a mitad de camino en la ruta, justo en donde empieza el sendero hacia la Laguna Turquesa 😃.
According to the signage at the entrance, getting to the lagoon would take an hour and a half, but according to my offline map, this was an easy 45 minute drive. And the map was right, because that's how long it took me. The only downside was that due to the recent snow and rain, the whole trail was pretty muddy. But I didn't mind, because once out of the forest, the scenery was incredible and from that place, you could see the Esmerald Lagoon as just a small puddle of water. Wonderful ❤️.
Según la cartelería de la entrada, llegar hasta la laguna tomaría una hora y media, pero de acuerdo a mi mapa sin conexión, este era un recorrido sencillo de 45 minutos. Y el mapa estaba en lo cierto, porque eso fue lo que tardé. El único inconveniente fue que debido a las recientes nevadas y lluvias, todo el camino estaba bastante embarrado. Pero no me importaba, porque una vez fuera de el bosque, el paisaje fue increíble y desde ese lugar, se podía observar la Laguna Esmeralda como apenas un pequeño charco de agua. Maravilloso ❤️.
I would classify this hike as simple and with a great reward at the end. Or I don't know if it was the euphoria I had for not missing this landscape. When I finally got to where the trail ended, I found a greenish lagoon that even on a cloudy day like the one I was having, kept its color. I might even say that I liked this color better than that of the Emerald Lagoon, despite the difference in popularity between the two. While the Emerald Lagoon is the most touristy of them all, there was no one here but me 😅.
Clasificaría a esta caminata como sencilla y con una gran recompensa al final. O no sé si era la euforia que tenía por no perderme este paisaje. Cuando al fin llegué a donde terminaba el sendero, me encontré con una laguna verdosa que incluso en un dia nublado como el que estaba haciendo, mantenía su color. Hasta podría decir que este color me gustó más que el de la Laguna Esmeralda, a pesar de la diferencia de popularidad entre ambas. Mientras la Laguna Esmeralda es la más turistica de todas, en este lugar no había nadie más que yo 😅.
I always say that the sun has an incredible effect on landscapes, but what surprised me about this lagoon is that it maintained its beautiful color even with a totally gray sky. Even though we were very close to summer, this body of water still showed signs of freezing. On its edge there were several footprints, indicating that other brave people had been walking along its shore, but as I am adventurous but not so irresponsible, I did not dare to walk there because it looked too close to the water 😅.
Siempre digo que el sol logra un efecto increíble en los paisajes, pero lo que me sorprendió de esta laguna es que mantenía su color hermoso aún con el cielo totalmente gris. Si bien ya estábamos muy cerca del verano, este cuerpo de agua todavía conservaba signos del congelamiento. En su borde habían varias pisadas, lo que indicaban que otros valientes habían estado caminando por su orilla, pero como soy aventurera pero no tan irresponsable, no me animé a caminar por ahí porque se veía demasiado cerca del agua 😅.
I stayed in the lagoon for quite a while, eating the last apple I had left from the supplies I had brought that day. Before starting this hike I asked some of my tour companions if they wanted to come with me, but they were all too tired to continue walking. Sometimes I am surprised at the energy I have to be walking so much all day, I think it is the euphoria that drives me to continue making the most of the trip 😂.
Me quedé un buen rato en la laguna, comiendo la última manzana que me quedaba de las provisiones que llevé ese día. Antes de empezar esta caminata consulté a alguno de mis acompañantes del tour si querían venir conmigo, pero todos estaban muy cansados como para seguir caminando. A veces me sorprende la energía que tengo para estar caminando tanto todo el día, yo creo que es la euforia que me impulsa a seguir aprovechando el viaje al máximo 😂.
The subplot of the Turquoise Lagoon ride was that when I got back on the road, I was 20 km from my hostel in a place with no signal. I couldn't order an Uber or even walk all the way back, so I was practically forced to hitchhike. This is a practice that I don't like so much, but at that moment I saw it as necessary. I spent quite a while waiting for someone to be kind enough to give me a ride back to the city, until I was finally picked up by a guy and his sister. It was nice to ride with them and give a great closure to that busy day: things couldn't have gone better ❤️.
La subtrama del paseo a la Laguna Turquesa fue que cuando volví a la ruta, me encontraba a 20 km de mi hostel en un lugar sin señal. No podía pedir un Uber ni tampoco volver todo el camino a pie, así que prácticamente me vi obligada a hacer dedo. Esta es una práctica que no me gusta tanto, pero en ese momento la vi necesaria. Estuve un buen rato esperando que alguien tuviera la amabilidad de llevarme de regreso a la ciudad, hasta que al fin me levantaron un chico y su hermana. Fue agradable viajar con ellos y darle un gran cierre a ese día lleno de actividad: las cosas no podrían haber salido mejor ❤️.

Me trajiste tantos recuerdos de cuando hacia esa caminata,los paisajes, las experiencias, el cansancio creo que la abre hecho unas 4 veces pero hace muchos años y recuerdo que la primera vez que fui lo que más extraño me parecio eran las horas de luz eso me sorprendió un montón la primera vez

Sin dudas la decisión de haberte bajado a mitad de camino y de caminar hacia este hermoso lugar valió la pena. Diría que le has sacado el máximo de provecho al día.
La Patagonia es tan linda, tan mágica que uno encuentra sitios bellísimos por todos lados que hacen que uno quiera seguir a pesar del cansancio.
Si bien disfruto mucho al ver tus fotos y el relato de tu paseo es como una especie de tortura, porque me da muchas ganas de estar en esos sitios.
