Argentina - The benefits of hiring a local guide: Bridal Veil Waterfall in a hidden corner of Ushuaia. 😃❤️

It is true that when you are traveling in a place as beautiful as it is vast, a vehicle can be more than useful to get around more easily. Having a car and learning to drive it are two things that are still on my wish list, but in the meantime, this question always ends up being solved somehow. On my trip to Ushuaia, I had the opportunity to meet many people eager to travel and get to know more incredible landscapes of this province, with whom we organized perfectly to hire a guided tour. This was a great decision because we were able to get to places that we definitely could not have reached on foot and that we had never heard of before 😃.

Thanks to the owners of the hostel where I was working, I found out about the existence of a Whatsapp group of Ushuaia where many people sold things, bought dollars and also offered guided tours around the city. These tours were not by travel agencies, but rather neighbors who with their private vehicles would take you to other not so touristy spots. Many of them had very good references on their web pages, so we decided to trust a woman who with her van did a half-day tour for a group of four people at a very cheap price 😃.

Once we organized our small tour group, we contacted the lady and she picked us up very early in the morning. Our ride included a few stops outside of what was the center of town, something I was interested in learning about since I had only been walking around the center and the nearby mountains so far. For this whole trip, which took about 5 hours and had five stops, she charged us $32, which, divided between four people, was really cheap 💕.

The first stop on our walk was at a spot I had not heard of before we went and that was the Bridal Veil Waterfall. This was a small waterfall hidden on the side of the road, but well signposted for those who wanted to visit it. It was a short walk, but with a significant slope on a fairly clayey terrain. Even though I knew I was going to be inside a car for quite some time, I still wore my hiking shoes and was glad for that because they came in handy in this part 😅.

The good thing about climbing a long way in a short stretch is that we soon gained altitude and could start to see the waterfall in front of us. It is incredible that this waterfall is there, because when we descended to the side of the road we could not hear or see it. The guide was very excited to show us this place: I asked her if she didn't get bored of always seeing the same thing on these kinds of tours, but she said she would never get tired of a landscape like this 😅.

According to our tour driver, most people only make it as far as this waterfall overlook, but there is one more reward for those brave enough to walk a little further. We had noticed that this waterfall was kind of stepped, so after climbing some more and getting between the trees and rocks, we made it up to one of those steps where we got close enough to the waterfall water to touch it 💕.

Personally, I found the access to this place a bit complicated and it is understandable why it was not signposted for people to go there. In this area, the waterfall was kind of boxed in and at times, you had large rocks over your head, as well as a few fallen trees. I always have a lot of respect for all of this, so I carefully approached it so I could touch the water. It was amazing to be there, and I was glad I met our Ushuaia guide, because without her I would have missed seeing this beautiful place 💕.

We had barely started the morning and we had already done a bit of walking to a beautiful place, one of the hundreds that Ushuaia has to know. This whole trip was one of the most beautiful and complete I have ever done, and I was glad to have made the most of it. The Bridal Veil Waterfall was an interesting point to know because I did not count on it, and it was also very special because it was the only one I saw up close on this trip. It was a good tip that was passed on to me about the Whatsapp group to find this shared trip and I was happy to coincide with companions who also wanted to walk optimizing the trip budget 😅.
