Cross Country Trip to Englishman's Bay during Vacation

Englishman's Bay

Remember I told you guys that I haven't been posting that often because I've been doing a lot of exploring? Well I wasn't joking! These are the last few of the locations in the little nation of Tobago and then it is on to other countries! I really love putting the places I visit on @pinmapple! Speaking of visited places, our next stop is Englishman's Bay, a very aesthetically pleasing parabolic shaped beach on the far and remotest side of the island. The drive is long, winding and mountainous but it is very rewarding. I had never before set foot upon this beach and was very excited to see it!

The GPS took us off the forested roadway into the forest itself via a gravel road. We were kind of skeptical but pushed on as the sign really did say "Englishman's Bay" before we turned off. There were lush bamboo trees on both sides and rivers that flowed amongst them, it was really quite beautiful as the sunlight filtered through the canopies above. In the distance, we could hear a gentle crash of waves. Excitement built up in our hearts, in a way that only used to happen when were young and the beach was getting nearer!

The GIF above shows our first impression and views. The whole length of the shore was beautifully and thankfully shaded with a thick tree line that provided natural and much needed coolness and shade. It was so cosy feeling. There were these extremely colorful scarves blowing in the wind that were on sale as well as souvenirs and trinkets on sale. It provided a nice aesthetic and feel to the location that was not present in others.

The shape of the shoreline was very unorthodox for me even as an avid beach goer who lives on a nearby island! The parabolic shape was even more accented by its relatively small width. It is not often that you see such near perfectly round shapes in natural land formations and I loved it! The color of the water was as usual that Tobagonian turquoise blue. As you can see, the natural shade provided by the tree line was so unique and it negated the need for a beach umbrella. What was amazing was that the treeline covered the entirety of the length of the bay!

There was still an ample amount of space on the sands to sunbathe and for sandcastle building. The only issue I had with this beach was that just the entry to the bathing depths of waters was filled with rocks that were sort of sharp. Once you get past that its all okay from there though.

You can see the almost perfect concave shape of the beach and the forest that it seems to emerge from in the background. It is literally all thick uninhabitable jungle and mountainous countryside. I would hate to get lost in there!

From above, the breathtaking colors of the waters could be seen more clearly as well as the clarity. There was even little patches of coral here and there and an abundance of fishes. I regretted not bringing my snorkeling gear to explore the depths!

I did manage to find a full on reef on the left side of the bay that we would not have seen if I did not have a drone! I would have loved to have been able to snorkel there but it looked only accessible by boat or if you're that type of person; a really long swim.

This beach was one of my most favorite of our last visit to the island. It was unorthodox in shape but that worked in its favor and the length of trees that provided an infinity of shade made it the best. As islanders, we tend to run from the sun! All this adds up to just a naturally aesthetic and beautiful beach and an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend if ever you're there on vacation!
