I was visiting the Santa Lucia parish in Maracaibo, specifically a very emblematic place for the Marabino called since the time of yesteryear: Barrio el Empedrao receives this name because previously most of its streets were made of stones.

Upon entering the sector I found the Santa Lucia Church which has a neoclassical style like most Catholic churches in Venezuela, its color is a light blue that has been faded by rain and sun over the years, with mosaics on its windows and its three doors on the facade that can not miss and some crosses in its pyramidal domes, some bells protrude from one of the towers so that its inhabitants can hear the sound of their chimes every hour, some lamps are around it to illuminate it at night.

On one side of the church I found a cave made with stones to honor the name of the place and inside is a figure of the Virgin of Lourdes with her rosary in one arm and the palms of her hands together as a sign of prayer, in front of the church there is a square with benches to observe the magnitude of its beauty and enjoy the shade of a few other trees that are planted in the same to bring oxygenation to the city.

Walking through the streets of Empedrao I could see different houses full of warm colors with wooden windows and doors, which have been modernized with the passage of time, in some walls of the entrances of one or another house there are plaques with data of great interest as the year they were founded and most famous songs of musical groups that were renowned for the state in the past and currently remembered with great affection on the walls for those who read them, a small stage is located in the heart of the neighborhood for some cultural activities and festivities.

It was my first time touring the Empedrao neighborhood I hope you enjoy this run, it was a pretty exhausting morning because it is quite large and the weather did not help much because there was the characteristic heat of Maracaibo that does not play carts as they say out there, but I left with a sense of well being because I could see for myself part of the history that keeps the parish Santa Lucia and with it make a little trip to the past and to our roots.
