At the beginning of April, spring weather arrived in the Czech Republic. So I decided to do a multi-day trek. Since I was looking at a geological map of gold occurrences a few days before. So the choice fell on the surroundings of the South Bohemian River Otava. So on Friday afternoon I boarded a direct train from Prague to Písek, where I was in about two hours.
Začátkem dubna zavítalo do České republiky jarní počasí a tak jsem se rozhodl podniknout nějaký vícedenní trek. Vzhledem k tomu, že jsem pár dní předtím prohlížel geologickou mapu výskytu zlata. Tak volba padla na okolí Jihočeské řeky Otavy. Nasedl jsem tedy v pátek odpoledne na přímý vlak z Prahy do Písku, kde jsem vysoupil asi za dvě hodiny.
From the station I headed towards the city center, but instead of going to the center I went straight to the river. The weather was beautiful, so there was quite a lot of life along the shores and on the water. So I just took a few photos and headed upstream.
Z nádraží jsem zamířil směr centrum města, ale místo do centra jsem šel přímo k řece. Bylo krásné počasí a tak bylo po březích i na vodě poměrně dost živo. Tak jsem udělal jen pár fotek a vyrazil proti proudu řeky.
The more I moved away from the town, the fewer people there were, until I ended up meeting about one person per hour. At least I could enjoy the spring nature on the river bank in peace.
Čím více jsem se vzdaloval od města, lidí ubývalo, až jsem nakonec potkával tak zhruba jednoho člověka za hodinu. Alespoň jsem si mohl v klidu užívat jarní přírody na břehu řeky.
At a leisurely pace, undisturbed by anyone, I reached the confluence of Otava and Blanice, where I stopped for a while. Then I continued on to a village called Putim.
V poklidném tempu nikým nerušený jsem došel k soutoku Otavy a Blanice, kde jsem se na chvíli zastavil, abych zase po čase pokračoval dále k vesnici jménem Putim.
Putim is a picturesque village with an old stone bridge, a church on a hill and historic houses dotted around. If you have read the book Fateful Adventures of the Good Soldier Svejk During The World War by Jaroslav Hašek, you will surely know the name of this village. Because one episode took place here during Svejk's trip to České Budějovice. Today, this person is represented by a bronze statue on the edge of the bridge.
Putim je malebná vesnička se starým kamenným mostem, kostelem na kopci a historickými domy poskládanými v okolí. Pokud jste četli knihu Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka od Jaroslava Haška tak jistě název této vesnice znáte. Protože se zde odehrála jedna epizoda při cestě Švejka do Českých Budějovic. Dnes je tato osoba zpodobněna bronzovou sochou na okraji mostu.
From Putim I continued to the pond called Řežabinec. Which I reached about an hour before sunset. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to get to the place I originally wanted to go. So I settled on the lookout tower, which serves as an observatory for the birds living around the pond. I have to say that it was not the wisest idea, because all night long the sounds of frogs, seagulls and all kinds of other animals could be heard from the pond. Luckyly bats fly silently, so the hundreds of bats that flew out after dark did not cause any disturbance and at least caught insects.
Z Putimi jsem pokračoval dále k rybníku jménem Řežabinec. Kam jsem došel asi hodinu před západem slunce. Bohužel mi nezbýval čas se dostat na místo kam jsem původně chtěl dojít. Tak jsem se zabydlel na vyhlídkové věži, která slouží jako pozorovatelna ptáků, žijících v okolí rybníka. Musím říci, že to nebyl nejmoudřejší nápad, protože celou noc se z rybníka okolí ozývali zvuky žab, racků a všemožných dalších živočichů. Naštěstí netopýři létají potichu a tak stovky kusů, které vylétly po setmění nijak nerušili a alespoň chytaly hmyz.
