Hmm.. about your actions, by telling the boy to go back home. I think you did well by correcting him. When next he finds himself in another place or maybe back to your place, his subconscious would remind him of how to properly communicate without swearing.

I guess sending him home can be seen as correcting him indirectly, However, I ensured that I did not directly tell him how to commununicate because he is not my child. I was very careful. However, it is interesting i have never heard him swearing since then.
