Saturday Savers Club: 09 (2024 May)

Chello Hivers. Firstly, thank you @hoosie for nominating me as "Saver of the Week" alongside @ifarmgirl, @arc-echo and @steemmillionaire – links to their posts can be found here. It’s really so nice to receive such warm encouragement within SSC, even if my account isn’t very large – so big hugs for this!

My HIVE savings update:

The previous week’s wallet read 243.838 HP and 17.567 HIVE. (The latter sum dropped as I decided to Power Up for the first time and invested 5.000 HIVE.) Presently, we’re sitting at: 250.143 HP and 19.945 HIVE.

As for my primary and secondary goals...

SecondaryEDSD1006.000

Again, veeery little change BUT still an upgrade. As @arc-echo notes in his post: “It’s more about the journey and the direction”! Couldn’t agree more – a concept that can be applied to many aspects of life.

In the world beyond HIVE, for example, I’ve been focussed very much on my fitness – taking stock of this exquisite good weather and preparing for the looming Edinburgh Half Marathon this Sunday coming. @dannewton prompted the following spiel...

Mastering “the journey” - endurance - is about embracing the challenge of the pursuit, isn't it? … understanding that growth happens at the edge of your comfort zone.

On Saturday I ventured out with my bike. I did a round-trip down to the Scottish Borders. Which, honestly, are so breathtakingly beautiful… I started in Edinburgh, then followed the coast through Musselburgh, turning South at Longniddry. Through Lauder, a historic town known for Thirlestane Castle, to Stow, a quaint village nestled in the Gala Water valley.

Seeking energy at Clovenfords, near Galashiels, I bought myself a can of Iron Bru – a Scottish classic… apparently you can hear the bagpipes when you sip it. Unfortunately there were no such hallucinations for me. Sat there, grubby pup that I am, and caught sight of a group of young women my age - all glammed up - ready to hit the town... and vaguely wondered at what point I went astray. Haha. Looked down at my mud-specked bib tights and burnt forearms, gremlin that I am, and shrugged. Meh.

Finished my drink, got on my bike, and followed the trail along the River Tweed to Innerleithen, serenaded by woodpecker song, before turning home.

The ride took several hours. It was a loop that showcased rolling hills, historic sites, and picturesque landscapes - from flat riverside paths and hilly countryside roads… weaving in and out of scenes like the ones pictured above made the miles seem less daunting. The pursuit, after all, renders everything meaningful.

It’s humbling to be reminded of the transformative power of perseverance and the unexpected rewards that come with embracing challenges head-on. My professional journey also took a turn last Friday – I was offered an extension of my role at work… which I turned down. Not because I didn’t want it – but simply because I’ve already accepted a job elsewhere. The moment put me in shock, if I’m honest. I've never been a position where there were options. I had to take myself away and reflect on a park bench, haha. It’s hard to explain the feeling… but two job offers presents a remarkable shift from having no opportunities on the horizon. The contrast is stark - just a few months ago, such a situation would have seemed utterly improbable. Perseverance/endurance - whatever you'd like to call it - really does pays off...

It’s not just about the destinations we reach, but the paths we traverse and the choices we make along the way.

The journey is what shapes us.

P.S. For those who are interested in joining, let me introduce you to the "Saturday Saver's Club": A delightful weekly gathering of individuals across the Blockchain, with the intention of uplifting each other in our savings endeavours. I have to say, at first I'm a bit confused 🤣
A Saturday Saver post on a Wednesday. I've already switched back to weekend mode for a moment. So now back🤣

Your growth looks great!
Just under 7 HP and almost 2 HIVE. That's absolutely not negligible!
Just on your HP, the 7 is almost a 2% increase. In one week!
And that's the beauty of the SSC.
It's not about how big you are, but rather how big you want to get and how much you want it.

You can draw a good comparison with cycling here:
What is and was easy for you is a big challenge for others!

With this in mind, have another great tour, happy collecting and a successful week
