Burning $10,000 HBD/Hive a month?

in LeoFinance5 months ago (edited)

You probably noticed by now the regular @buildawhale burn posts. In the past it was posting eight times a day with 100% beneficary to @null. This results in all author rewards (including Hive Engine Tribe Tokens) being burned while curators still earn normal curation rewards.

A few days ago it was changed to post one daily burn post, with 10 comments under that post. This will prevent the posts from showing up trending but allow you to easily find the latest comments. These are all set to 100% beneficary to @null and results in the tokens being burned automatically at payout.

These burn posts provide an alternative option to direct inflation. There are currently three options available to Hive users.

  • Vote on creators posts
  • Vote on DHF Funder Posts
  • Vote on Burn Posts

For over a year, @buildawhale has been burning over $1,000 USD worth of Hive & HBD each month. Due to how Hive Engine works and how they don't provide end points for data and literally truncate data from their API, I don't have an idea how many Hive Engine tokens have been burned, but I do know it is a lot. The burn posts are also tagged with popular tribe tags so those tokens are also burned.

If you want to direct some or all of your votes to reduce inflation, you can find the burn posts on @buildawhale. If you want to assist in pegging HBD to $1 and increasing the funding available to the DHF, you can vote the @hbd.funder comments. Of course, you can always vote your favorite content creators as you always have. You can also choose some combination of the above.

If you are going to vote on the burn posts, I recommend voting the comments as they cannot polute trending.

If I can get an accurate account of Hive Engine tokens burned, I will provide the data here but from what I have gathered, it isn't possible.

The burn posts current tag the following tokens:

  • BEE
  • LEO
  • NEOXAG
  • POB
  • VYB
  • ARCHON
  • PALNET
  • CENT
  • SPT
  • CTP
  • ONEUP
  • SPORTS
Sort:

Going to set up auto vote on this one. Thanks for reminding me.

Reducing inflation rewards everyone equally.

I don't understand correctly, do I still get part of the curation or will I also burn some tokens?
@themarkymark

Yes, it just affects author rewards.

Thanks for this post Marky, most likely I would have missed the comments.

Btw, how do you set comment rewards to burn?

This is a better idea using 10 comments, just wondering why 10, hbd.funder posts 11 comments, also which is better for hive, burn posts or funding for DHF can you recommend pros and cons.

I suggested 11 comments for hbd.funder because although you get 10 full votes a day, if you do them quickly you will recharge enough to do 11 votes a day, although they will have the strength of 10 total. 11 allows you to vote them all without worry of hitting 100%. I suspect that's not going to pose a real problem for anyone. If someone wants to vote it exclusively, I can add an 11th.

I never miss a chance voting for those posts. Too bad my voting power is not that big!

For me this is quite great as it showcase some of those tokens in the Hive engine , and it's also applicably informative.

I think the recent change is good to get the burn post off trending. I much rather see users content there than some house keeping posts.

How is it a scam? It’s clear they are all set to burn 100% to null. There is no way to change that once it has been set.

Its just a spammy trolling account x)

We do xD And we are also telling the hive community, who can also see you are a mentally unstable person xD
I hope you get help!
