We can't witness Auroras, but we do have these sunrises in Spring: Purple Dawns

Less than a week ago the Sun released a huge, historic and potentially dangerous coronary mass ejection into outer space. Recall that our star is only 8 Earth minutes away from us in time and space. This means that any emission of energy (including light and electromagnetism) takes that amount of time to reach each and every one of us on this small, beautiful and delicate planet we all inhabit. All over the world the beautiful and unusual auroras could be observed. Boreal or austral, the photos invaded all places...

Here in Venezuela, in May, we have these sunrises; purple in springtime.... They begin to show in the sky when the April rainy season starts. In some parts of my country, (in the Central Plains) the colours of the sunrise and sunset are worthy of capturing in photographs, videos and even documentaries. There is a lot of tourism in that region because the colours are absolutely hyper-realistic and hypnotic. I live in the north, where the incidence of sunlight is somewhat less than in the centre or the south, which means that the colours in the sunset are somewhat darker (purple) and brief.

As soon as my daughter was 3 years old, I started to capture the beauty that I normally saw with my eyes, through photography. Now, she is 9, a bigger girl, and she keeps asking and showing me that her favourite colour is purple. Also, thanks to the rise of the internet, and how well adapted the kids of this generation (Alpha) are to technology, I decided to wake my baby up, one Sunday, so that she could witness with her little eyes how beautiful and different a sunrise can be in certain months in our country. I was tempted, because I know very well that she loves that colour above all things.

Luckily, we didn't have to move too much. At that time of day, it is usually a bit difficult to walk alone on the street. Fortunately, where we live we have a good view of the horizon. The sky was beautiful and totally clear. The weather is completely crazy. The report says it's going to be a sunny week, and then all of a sudden there's dust everywhere or a 20 minute downpour that collapses the whole city. For those who don't know, Venezuela is in the Northern Hemisphere of the world but is relatively close (also) to the equator. Therefore, the country's climate is mostly subtropical.

Seasons are very little changed. Evenings and nights do not differ much. Except during the period of heavy rain, which curiously is not in autumn, but in the middle of the northern summer. From June to November (it rains a lot), in addition to the fact that the sun hits the horizon much more than during other months. This phenomenon also makes the colours in the sky, during sunrise, a total spectacle. The photographs were taken mainly during all the days of last week. As you know, I am a mother and an office worker, so I have to wake up early every morning.

At times, with a cup of coffee in my hands and in absolute silence, I enjoy these views. I am older now, but the incredible how the awe of something, to which I should already be accustomed, still positively influences me and my appreciation of beauty. As a good saying goes in my country; "The truly beautiful is essential to the eye of the beholder". I consider, that I have fully understood the meaning of that saying, and I think it is time to pass the "baton" to future generations. I was not able to see it with my mother when she was my daughter's age, let alone photograph it, but now we share this Sunday experience together, and that makes me very happy.

All the photographs in this post were taken during the dawn hours of last Sunday, the 12th of May. And they are of my authorship.
