"Geraldine, can you dish out the rice from the pot?" Momma's voice resounded from the bathroom as she was almost late for her appointment.
"Okay Mom," I responded swiftly because I like to make momma's life as simple as I can, I remember how much Mom had been there for me when I needed her the most and most times I always look for the simple ways to repay her but she ensures I am never in such situation to help her out.
"Do I also help clean your shoe, mi amor and even drop you over? I have nothing to do today, so I have all the time in the world," I further requested as I hurriedly ran off to the kitchen to dish out our meals, the aroma from the jollof rice was so heavenly that I couldn't resist, I picked up a very small ceramic plate to have a taste before I finally dished them out in mom's favourite plate and mine of course.
"Mom, no response yet?" I inquired as I carried the plates of rice to the dining room, "Oh darling, I thought I did reply while I was dressing up," she showed up looking dead drop gorgeous, "How do I look?" She wore a very beautiful smile as she stood hands at Akimbo in front of me.
She was in a very sleek and fitted black armless dress, her hair was in buns and she wore very slight make-up which enhanced all her facial features, "Mom, is this client a male or female?" I teased her as I began to check her out.
"You're so funny, are you scared your dad might be having a rivalry?" Her response got me laughing and I loved her great sense of humour unlike my dad who might have taken that particular question seriously, mom ensured the atmosphere was still calm as we both shared uncontrollable laughter, "My dad has a taste for good things, you're a very beautiful mom, "I complimented her as offered her a seat so we could both have our meals before she headed out.
"So Mom, what's so challenging being a personal fashion stylist for people, especially the opposite sex? Oh, don't worry about table manners, when you come back home that will be our basis of discussion and please call Dad before you leave home, else he will pick an offence, you know how clingy your husband can be," she let out a chuckle "Sometimes your dad makes the whole thing feel like we are still dating, he's just a perfect lover boy and gentleman, I'll call him before leaving, can we eat now?" I could see how happy she was through her facial expression, "God please give me a man like a dad," I whispered and after saying that there were a few minutes of silence as we both ate our meals to our fill and talked about the devil, her husband who went on a business trip face timed the love of his life and I began to smile sheepishly, actually I have an amazing parent, "Love you both," I screamed at the background as I headed to the room to grab my car keys and mom's shoes so that I could drop her off.
