Like An Action Movie

“The sun shone brightly, threatening to burn off my skin. I was sweating profusely beneath the light white t-shirt I wore that morning. My throat felt dry, and my nose burned from the harsh dust on the road. My breath was in gasps as I kept pedalling on my little bicycle non-stop; I knew getting caught by the estate security that afternoon was the last thing on my bucket list,” I explained with bated breath and a sweat-soaked body. My little bicycle, nestled carefully under the huge mango tree in our street, is just beside Michael's bicycle. Glazing from the tiny rays of sunlight that pierced through the leaves.

“Guy, you know you're not writing a novel here, right?” Michael asked, rubbing his sore butt. “All I want to know is how you were able to escape without getting hurt or caught while I was given several lashes of the cane by the estate security for disturbing the estate peace and tranquility. Not all this Shakespeare vibe you're giving me.”

“If you interrupt me again, I won't finish my story. Besides, if I can recall, you discovered that estate as the best place where we can ride our bicycles without fear,” I replied, feeling like a star straight out of an action movie.

“I never knew they had rules that prohibited non-residents from trespassing.”

“Do you really want to hear my story, or do you still want to keep interrupting?” I asked, hands placed on my waist.

"Oya, sorry, go on,” Michael pleaded.

“So, as I was saying before, I was rudely interrupted by you,” I continued, mocking Michael. "Hol, am there (stop there), the estate security yelled at me. I knew obeying the first command was part of my training at the boys brigade, but I also knew at that point that obeying such a command was a threat to my fine skin.”.

Michael gave me an awful look.

“Come on, do you think that such red marks tattooed now on your butt cheeks by the security whip will sit pretty on my fine skin?” I asked Michael a rhetorical question, showing off and at the same time exaggerating my story at any given opportunity I get.

“Whatever!” Michael kissed his teeth.

“Exactly, that's the exact word I motivated myself with,” I said, making gestures in the air with my hands like a poet on stage reading out the fine lines of his works. “Whatever happens, Marriott, try not to get caught. I said to myself, And with that, I pedalled more. And just at that turn in the street, I hit a pothole and fell. That's where I got that little dent on my front bicycle hub. Immediately, the estate security caught up with me.

Michael's eyes lit up at this point. I guess he was happy that I wasn't so lucky after all.

“But that's exactly where it got more interesting, because just as the estate security caught me, just as I gave up hope, I saw my saviour, my light in shining armour, driving down from a distance.”

“And who's that?”

“Mr Eddy”

"That's your father's friend.”

“Yes!” I answered, throwing my hands in the air, a sign for Michael to quit interrupting me and let me finish my story. “What's going on here? he asked them. But as they tried to explain, he ordered them to release me and let me go.” I gave a wicked laugh. I was feeling like the villain in a blockbuster movie.

Michael kissed his teeth again.

He's just a kid trying to have fun by coming here to ride his bicycle. Don't rough-handle him, please; set him free immediately! Mr. Eddy ordered them,” I concluded, then I joined Michael on the tiny pavement he was sitting on.

"So, what did you do or say?” Michael asked, standing up, hands to his buttocks.

“Do you think I'm ungrateful? I thanked him.”

“And?”

“He just warned me not to ride around the estate again because it was against the estate rules.”.

“Well, again, you escaped by the skin of your teeth. I always wonder why you're so lucky than me in situations like this.

“Destined child, bro.“ I tapped him on his shoulders, prying myself.

“Come on, let's go home. I have to put some ice on this.”
I watched as Michael limped to his bicycle and jumped on, then I followed suit. I really felt pity for him.

Well, we never went back to that estate again to ride our bicycle. Michael found a new spot, which was a big field on a neighbouring street.

We do not obey first command all the time oo 😂, sometimes leave first command and run for your dear life.

😂😂
Seriously

Lucky you, you may have gotten more punishment than your friend. You need to thank your dad's friend very well for his assistance

I did but that was after he had reported to my Dad. 😂

It was good you didn't go back to the estate , it would have been worse, your dad's friend was an angel in disguise.

He really was 😂

Michaelno has not been as lucky as his brother and has received an exaggerated punishment. Stories containing child violence leave a bitter taste and sadness in the reader.
