Having A Clean Conscience

To make matters worse, he is just 15 years old, he only looks so much taller than his age that you could mistake him for an adult. I told him how disappointed I was and told him to lead the way to his lesson. After I saw him safely there, I proceeded to where I was headed.

While at the lesson, I thought of my next course of action. What if he went back to the guys? Should I tell his parents? Or take him at his word to disengage from them? My heart was troubled. My conscience wouldn't let me be. In the end, I decided I would have to tell his parents.

"Alexa's reflection"

image.png

And that is how we find ourselves in the opening scene, Alexa and fiera in front of the lake. People waiting from a distance, and the dream eater emerging from those mysterious waters. Again the creature stood in front of Alexa, but not being able to perceive her fear, the dream eater was furious, because that creature could not see what Alexa felt in her heart. Between lightning and thunder, a huge fog enveloped the whole place. For an instant everything disappeared, until a ray of light broke through from above. At last the sunlight had returned! And in a matter of seconds the scene was transformed.

Pa! Mr. Banks' Tanya had a pup, one that he said he'd never seen anything quite like it. He's willing to let me have it for some work," panted the boy.

Pa grinned. "Remember to breathe, boy. Also remember what I told you about Banks. He's not a liar, everything he says to people is technically true. But he can twist words until the truth is like a lie."

Losing fear

As we were unprepared, it enveloped and dragged us. We were spinning in the water, and the sand at the bottom that had mixed. This one got into our hair and into our bathing suits. We couldn't get out of the whirlpool until it left us on the shore.

My dad, who was watching us, laughed out loud and went into the sea to teach us to lose our fear of the sea.

When he got to where we were, he told us.

"One by one, you are going to go with me to where the waves don't break".

White Dove

image.png

Image created using AI and Canva

"The usual, Mom." I looked out the window, trying to figure out how to explain everything. Mom gave me a concerned look. "I saw a dove before seeing the ghost of a male student wearing our school basketball uniform."

"You always pass out whenever you see a ghost. This makes me more worried. Your active sixth sense isn't good for you."

We remained silent. I had been like this since I was five or six years old, but I learned to live with it.

Seeing a white dove is no longer strange to me. Because whenever they appeared, it was either someone was about to die, or someone had already died.

I'm truly honoured to be selected as one of the featured authors 😊 thank you! Congratulations to other featured authors

Unfortunately, @kushyzee, it has come to our attention that the story was AI-generated, so we have removed it from the magazine. We will no longer curate any work you post in The Ink Well that is AI generated. We have explained our stance on this in a comment on this post: https://peakd.com/hive-170798/@kushyzee/swimming-lessons.

That's not possible, the story is original and from my personal experience, I only used AI to edit after I had written it and the same goes for the other story you flagged as AI-generated. I don't know what software you use to detect AI-generated content but it can't be accurate

@kushyzee, we use the best available AI detection tools. A false positive is possible, but rare, especially at 100% certainty which is what the tool is reporting on your recent stories.

There are two possible causes for a false positive result:

  1. The content was written in another language and then translated. To avoid these issues we ask writers who write in another language to post the content in the original language as well as in English.

  2. The writing uses simplistic and/or excessive descriptions full of colorful adjectives. If every facial expression is joyous or concerned, sounds and scenes all have brilliant adjectives describing them, it is not only distracting to the reader but it is also typical of AI generated content.

I see. Thank you for your detailed explanation, I can see I was wrong and will avoid such an occurrence next time

Congratulations to everyone that was picked, it's a pleasure.

Big congratulations to the featured authors. It is well deserved.
