The Student's Struggle

"You know the core issue holding you back?" Professor Hendricks asked. "Your self-doubt and insecurities spiral out of control. You overthink everything far too much."

Those words struck a chord deep within Jasmine. She knew the professor was right. All her struggles stemmed from her own conviction she wasn't good enough...smart enough...strong enough. Not just for this program but to achieve any kind of success.

"It sure is, Grandma; I can't imagine how difficult things were then," I said pitifully.

"After the first two females graduated from secondary school, they started working to support me in sending their siblings too. At this time, the third, fourth, and fifth were enrolled in secondary school at the same time. When they were almost done, the sixth and seventh had graduated from elementary.

"At this time, both the first and second children were sponsoring themselves in higher education, and they were almost done. This made it a little bit easier for me," Grandma continued.

Dreamy Stars

It seemed like the perfect moment to get up there deeper and for as long as I wished to stay. So, I travelled down the depth of my mind where a meeting was going on with my head.

1,2,3,4,5… it seemed like the most beautiful moment in my life at first because I could clearly see the stars I used to admire high up in the sky. I had always wanted to touch them, and it seemed like a perfect moment, so I did.

A year later, Mach got his GED and proposed to me. I had already began plans of retirement and the huge rock he slipped on my finger solidified my decision. His auto repair shop was doing well for someone so young. He was the definition of 'what I want, I get'.

I learned he was adopted when I met his family. His father, Gary, was not open to the idea of his son settling with an older woman no matter how rich she was and his mother, Antoine, was a sweetheart who enjoyed recounting tales of wiping his baby butt. At the table one Monday afternoon with Mach and his family, Gary has stared at me long and hard enough to make me uncomfortable before saying,

Beeing a Honey of a Heroine

The chief physician only gave Osha a nod before returning to the ICU room. Suddenly, he came out of the same door, but flying away. His body violently hit one of the hospital walls.

This scene was followed by a commotion inside the ICU ward. Screams and metal things falling to the floor could not stop being heard from outside.

Osha became desperate and instantly entered the ICU. Her frightened expression was only surpassed by what she saw: her beloved cousin Asaney had transformed into some kind of humanoid bee. Her dark complexion contrasted sharply with the golden lines adorning her body, along with large eyes, antennae and insect-like wings that raised her a few inches above the ground.

Superheroes must follow a code of honor and irreproachable conduct at all times. They can be imprisoned for misconduct or committing infractions and worst of all, they must do so without resistance or complaint. Which does not appeal to me.

To be a supervillain you must meet a particular standard, if you do not possess a power practical enough to perform misdeeds, you must at least pass a test where they evaluate your ability to create Machiavellian plans thoroughly. Most pass it by cheating or buying the answers. Oddly enough, it is part of the test.
