Reached Solar with Mill Deception! 80% Win Rate in 10 Games. The Deck and Acquisitions

in Gods On Chain18 days ago

I published several posts about testing Mill Deception decks. It was hard and games were quite long so, eventually, I decided to have a break and see what other people did in this direction. And it exactly happened this way. I found and analyzed a Mill Deception deck by Gabe_Ster TTV. I liked the idea of having 2 Shadow of Lethenon and 2 Ludia's Deception.

Pain Brought by Shadow of Lethenon...

And it was a good idea from the point of the game but also it relieved my pain. 😀 What pain? A couple of week ago, I spotted the price for Shadow of Lethenon dropped to 25 $GODS and rushed to buy two of them. I considered I had an amazing deal. And it was. But several days later, people started regularly selling Shadow of Lethenon for 25, 20 and even lower! 🙁

I tried playing the cats with budget "Rob-the-Void Deception" but the archetype looked inconsistent and too weak in Dread Awakening reality.

Thus, I spent 50 $GODS for cards I even couldn't play! 😡

But it's the happy end. Shadow of Lethenon works well with Mill Deception as it turned out! 🙂

New Cards in the Deck

Ludia's Deception would be a poor substitute of Cutthoat Insight if not the fact its mana cost is only 1 (+ a card draw means 1 damage if Cobra Scepter equipped).

I try to mulligan Ludia's Deception with Cobra Scepter to cast Ludia's Deception right after equipping the relic to shuffle a relic remover of the opponent if it is present in the hand. If there is no relic remover there, it's often something very valuable, like Necroscepter or Regression, etc.

As for Shadow of Lethenon, it works in the same way as Cobra Scepter. So, if I don't have this relic early, I probably have the cat. Having them together sometimes significantly shortens the game.

There are two additional use cases of the cats in this deck: Hupnos Puzzle Box sometimes adds a +2/+2 spell - great to cast on Shadow of Lethenon:

Secondly, you can return Shadow of Lethenon with Forge New Bonds to make a Resurgent Sirens cost 1 mana. Of course, better to do so with the enemy creature but, if not available, it's might be worth doing with your own.

Shortly how to play: make early damage with Cobra Scepter, Surprise Delivery, Shadow of Lethenon and relics/spells/creatures from Hypnos Puzzle Box. Slow down the opponent with spells. If you manage to lower mana cost of a Resurgent Sirens with Forge New Bonds, that's amazing. Summon Resurgent Sirens with equipped Cobra Scepter to make a large damage. Return Resurgent Sirens and summon it again if needed / possible.

The upgraded deck has become faster! Look at this:

Mana 4, the opponent is one step from defeat (the second Resurgent Sirens in the hand). Or this:

Finishing Aggro Death on mana 6.

Let's see how the deck will work in Solar... Even it was a pure luck I reached that high, anyway this achievement is an indicator of the deck's effectiveness.

Shinization

I couldn't help fusing shiny versions. Because the archetype is new and some key cards are so cheap.

Super cheap Walk the Plank is a fantastic card that, if manasurged, can return to hand 2 creatures, you choose if these will be enemy or friendly ones. The whole archetype is based on the idea you might play Resurgent Sirens twice do having mana cheap alternative to Nightcap is great.

You also can remove frontlines with it (in the screenshot above) and return enemy creatures in the way the strongest will disappear because of the hand is overfilled.

Grand Vault is another card that costs almost nothing. It slows down the opponent, sometimes, paralyzes the whole opponent's board. And it makes 2 damage if Cobra Scepter is equipped.

They are selling shadow Stack the Deck in the star store and you can find cheap offers at the secondary market either. I already had 2 shadow cards so I needed to get only three to fuse 1 gold version. I will get more to fuse another gold one but currently I don't think having 2 Stack the Deck in the deck is a good idea.

So, happy and looking forward to new victories! 😎 Thanks for reading, comments are appreciated, cheers!

Very nice, That "Walk the Plank" play at the end sealed the win.
