Hello dear friends, I hope you are feeling very well, today I want to share with you a drawing that contains a little of the history of my country Venezuela. This is a portrait of the Venezuelan Francisco de Miranda, one of the greatest heroes of our country, who participated in many wars around the world and planned the freedom of America from the Spanish Empire. Francisco de Miranda fought in many conflicts, was involved in the American War of Independence and also participated in the French Revolution on the side of the Jacobins and later was also in the ranks of Napoleon Bonaparte, his name has been engraved on the Great Arc de Triomphe in Paris. His adventures were so many that they made him a hero in many countries, he was the creator of the Venezuelan Flag. The reason for this drawing is that my daughter had an exhibition at her school today, and she had to talk about Franciscode Miranda, I made this drawing following a bill that has his face as a reference, I hope you like it.
Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un dibujo que contienen un poco de la historia de mi país Venezuela. Se trata de un retrato del venezolano Francisco de Miranda, uno de los héroes más grande de nuestro país, que participó en muchas guerras alrededor del mundo y planeo la libertad de América del Imperio español. Francisco de Miranda luchó en muchos conflictos, estuvo involucrado en la guerra de Independencia de los Estados Unidos y también participó en la Revolución Francesa del lado de los Jacobinos y más tarde también estuvo en las filas de Napoleón Bonaparte, su nombre ha sido grabado en el gran Arco del Triunfo de París. Fueron tantas sus aventuras que lo convirtieron en un héroe por muchos países, fue el creador de la Bandera de Venezuela. El motivo de este dibujo es que mi hija tuvo hoy una exposición en su escuela, y le tocó hablar acerca de Francisco de Miranda, este dibujo lo hice siguiendo como referencia un billete que tiene su rostro, espero les guste.

I did it on a large sheet of paper and as I said before, using a bill where his face appears. I drew a sketch with a pencil, I shaped it and then began to paint with wooden pencils.
Lo hice en una lámina de papel grande y como dije antes, utilizando un billete donde sale su cara. Dibujé un boceto con un lápiz, fui dándole forma para posteriormente comenzar a pintar con lápices de madera.

I started painting the drawing after finishing the sketch, using a light peach pencil, and then adding other pastel tones to make the skin. Then to start adding volume I painted with ocher color, and thus give a realistic effect to the face.
Comencé a pintar el dibujo después de terminar el boceto, utilizando un lápiz de color durazno claro, y así fue luego metiendo otros tonos pasteles para hacer la piel. Luego para comenzar a dar volumen fui pintando con color ocre, y así darle un efecto realista al rostro.

Next I start painting with darker tones, like brown and a little black, so you can see how the face is taking shape little by little. Something important that happened is that the reference being so small, it was difficult for me to maintain consistency in the forms, but I think it was going well until then.
Seguidamente comienzo a pintar con tonos más oscuros, como café y un poco de negro, así se puede ver como el rostro va tomando forma poco a poco. Algo importante que sucedió es que la referencia al ser tan pequeña fue difícil para mi mantener coherencia en las formas, pero creo que hasta ese momento iba bien.

The next step was trying to give more tone to the skin so I repeated the same process two more times until I went deeper into the color, then I painted part of her clothes and hair. With a gray color and also with black I painted the hair and gave volume to the shadows, this is how it was finished.
El siguiente paso fui tratando de darle más tono a la piel así que repetí dos veces más el mismo proceso hasta profundizar en el color, luego pinté parte de sus ropas y el cabello. Con un color gris y también con el negro pinté el cabello y le fui dando volumen a las sombras, así quedó finalizado.

Qué les ha parecido? mi hija expuso muy bien, a pesar de tener 5 años, dijo los puntos más resaltantes como la fecha de su nacimiento, el lugar de su nacimiento, y la independencia de Venezuela. Era un gran hombre, pero nunca entendió a las personas de su propia patria. Eran mentes muy diferentes a la forma de pensar de Europa.
Fue una gran pena.
