I hope you are happy and healthy. Today i will share a recipe of whole masoor dal ( brown lentils) . Masoor dal is rich in protein, fiber, and a variety of vitamins and minerals, making it highly beneficial for health. Hereโ€™s a step-by-step guide to making this delicious recipe.

๐ŸŒบWhole masoor dal (brown lentils) - 3/4 cup
๐ŸŒบMalka masoor dal (red lentils) - 1/4 cup
๐ŸŒบWater - 4 cups
๐ŸŒบOil - 2 tablespoons
๐ŸŒบCumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
๐ŸŒบAsafoetida (hing) - a pinch
๐ŸŒบ Onion - 1, finely chopped
๐ŸŒบ raw mango- 1/2
๐ŸŒบGreen chilies - 2, finely chopped
๐ŸŒบTurmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
๐ŸŒบRed chili powder - 1 teaspoon
๐ŸŒบ Salt - to taste
๐ŸŒบFresh coriander leaves - for garnish

๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฝ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป
๐ŸŒฟ Wash both types of lentils thoroughly and soak them in water for 30 minutes.

๐ŸŒฟ In a pressure cooker, add the soaked lentils and 4 cups of water. Add salt, a piece of raw mango (optional), a little chopped onion, green chilies, red chili powder, and turmeric powder. Close the lid and cook for 2-3 whistles. Once done, let the pressure release naturally and then open the lid.


๐ŸŒฟ Heat oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida. Once the cumin seeds start to crackle, add the chopped onions and sautรฉ until they turn golden brown.

๐ŸŒฟAdd the tempering to the cooked lentils and mix well. Let the dal simmer on low heat for 2 minutes so the flavors blend well.

๐ŸŒฟ Transfer the dal to a serving bowl and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Serve hot with chapati, paratha, or rice.
