Nutritious arepas with corn, green banana, oats and flaxseed. [Eng-Esp]

Today I show you a recipe for corn flour arepas, green cambur, oatmeal and flaxseed, easy to prepare and will give a nutritious touch, since oatmeal is a cereal that gives us a lot of fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals, green cambur gives us potassium and fills us with energy and flaxseed is rich in fiber and antioxidants, so I always add to my arepas some vegetable and cereal for my arepas to be completely healthy. I tell you that they have always been my favorite.

Hoy les muestro una receta de arepas de harina de maíz, cambur verde, avena y linaza, fácil de preparar y le dará un toque nutritivo, ya que la avena es un cereal que nos aporta mucha fibra, proteínas, vitaminas y minerales, el cambur verde nos aporta potasio y nos llena de energía y la linaza es rica en fibra y antioxidantes, por lo que siempre le agrego a mis arepas algún vegetal y cereal para que mis arepas sean completamente saludables. Les cuento que siempre han sido mis favoritas.

01 green cambur, 01 cup corn flour, 1/2 cup oatmeal, 01 tablespoon ground flaxseed, 1.1/2 cup warm water, salt to taste.



01 cambur verde, 01 taza de harina de maíz, 1/2 taza de avena, 01 cucharada de linaza molida, 1,1/2 taza de agua tibia, sal al gusto.

The first thing to do is to wash, peel and grate the green cambur.



Lo primero que haremos será lavar, pelar  y rallar el cambur verde.

Continue adding the warm water, salt, oats, flaxseed, grated green cambur and corn flour to the bowl.



Continuamos añadiendo en el bol el agua tibia, la sal, la avena, la linaza, el cambur verde rallado y la harina de maíz.

Knead with your hands until you obtain a soft dough. If it is soft, add a little more flour, if it is hard, add a little more water. Let it rest for half an hour.



Amasamos con las manos hasta obtener una masa suave. Si queda blanda, añadimos un poco más de harina, si queda dura, añadimos un poco más de agua. Déjmos reposar por media hora.

After the resting time we make balls and form the arepas with a circular motion pressing it until it flattens. The thickness and size will be according to your preference. For them to be crispy it is preferable to make them thin. With this quantity I got four small arepas.


Pasado el tiempo de reposo hacemos bolas y formamos las arepas con un movimiento circular presionando hasta que se aplane. El grosor y tamaño será según tu preferencia. Para que queden crujientes es preferible hacerlas finas. Con esta cantidad me salieron cuatro arepas pequeñas.

In a previously greased and hot non-stick griddle, cook the arepas until they are golden brown on both sides. To know if they are ready we pat them and if they sound confident we can turn it off. Once ready we consume them hot, with the filling of preference; and we will enjoy healthy arepas full of nutrients.




En una plancha antiadherente previamente engrasada y caliente, cocinamos las arepas hasta que estén doradas por ambos lados. Para saber si están listas las palmeamos y si suenan seguras podemos apagarla. Una vez listas las consumimos calientes, con el relleno de preferencia; y disfrutaremos de arepas saludables y llenas de nutrientes.
