For some people the ways of the Lord involve suffering, drastic changes, even in some cases losses. In all cases we can trust that we will have a reward from him.
As Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; because they were fishermen. 19 And he said to them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 They immediately left their nets and followed him. 21 Passing on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee his father, mending his nets; and he called them. 22 And they immediately left the boat and his father and followed him.
Matthew 4:18-22
Peter, Andrew, James and John were fishermen before becoming disciples of Christ. Their livelihood depended on the climate and they obtained their income from fishing. But in today's passage, their lives changed dramatically when the Lord called them to be fishers of men.
21 Jesus said to him: If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give it to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me. 22 When the young man heard this word, he went away sad, because he had many possessions.

Rather, this rich young ruler realized what he had to give up to follow Christ and walked away sad. The Lord's invitations often prompt us to change the way we live. God expects us to follow his plan. God expects us to follow His plan, whether that means changing jobs or habits.
Sometimes the Lord requires a change in our relationships. Before James and John were invited to travel with the Lord Jesus, they worked with their father in the family business. When you accept God's invitation, you will see your family and friends less often. But Christ promises us a great reward for every sacrifice we make.
Our Father's plan is about goodness, justice, and goodness of God. Thanks to God's wonderful character, we can fully trust in His plan, free ourselves, accept what God wants and make the necessary changes.

Para algunas personas los caminos del Señor implica sufrimientos, cambios drásticos, hasta en algunos casos pérdidas. En todos los casos podemos confiar que tendremos recompensa de parte de él.
Andando Jesús junto al mar de Galilea, vio a dos hermanos, Simón, llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano, que echaban la red en el mar; porque eran pescadores. 19 Y les dijo: Venid en pos de mí, y os haré pescadores de hombres. 20 Ellos entonces, dejando al instante las redes, le siguieron. 21 Pasando de allí, vio a otros dos hermanos, Jacobo hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano, en la barca con Zebedeo su padre, que remendaban sus redes; y los llamó. 22 Y ellos, dejando al instante la barca y a su padre, le siguieron.

Pedro, Andrés, Santiago y Juan fueron pescadores antes de convertirse en discípulos de Cristo. Su sustento dependía del clima y obtenían sus ingresos de la pesca. Pero en el pasaje de hoy, sus vidas cambiaron dramáticamente cuando el Señor los llamó a ser pescadores de hombres.
21 Jesús le dijo: Si quieres ser perfecto, anda, vende lo que tienes, y dalo a los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven y sígueme. 22 Oyendo el joven esta palabra, se fue triste, porque tenía muchas posesiones.

Más bien, este joven gobernante rico se dio cuenta de lo que tenía que renunciar para seguir a Cristo y se alejó triste. Las invitaciones del Señor a menudo nos impulsan a cambiar nuestra forma de vivir. Dios espera que sigamos su plan. Dios espera que sigamos su plan, ya sea que eso signifique cambiar de trabajo o de hábitos.
A veces el Señor requiere un cambio en nuestras relaciones. Antes de que Santiago y Juan fueran invitados a viajar con el Señor Jesús, trabajaban con su padre en el negocio familiar. Cuando aceptes la invitación de Dios, verás a tus familiares y amigos con menos frecuencia. Pero Cristo nos promete una gran recompensa por cada sacrificio que hagamos.
El plan de nuestro Padre tiene que ver con la bondad, la justicia y la bondad de Dios. Gracias al maravilloso carácter de Dios, podemos confiar plenamente en Su plan, liberarnos, aceptar lo que Dios quiere y hacer los cambios necesarios.
