Como muchos ya lo saben nos encontramos en el mes de la Lucha Contra el Cáncer de Mama el día 19 de Octubre es su día oficial, desde el año pasado en el municipio San Francisco, Zulia, Venezuela, lugar en donde vivo empezó a organizar la Caminata Rosa y es mi primera participación en está actividad que se realiza con la finalidad de crear concientizacion de la prevención o detección temprana de está patología que afecta a la mujer sin importar raza, clase social o religión.
As many already know we are in the month of the Fight Against Breast Cancer on October 19 is its official day, since last year in the municipality of San Francisco, Zulia, Venezuela, where I live began to organize the Pink Walk and is my first participation in this activity that is done in order to create awareness of prevention or early detection of this disease that affects women regardless of race, social class or religion.
La caminata fue convocada para las 6:00am desde el Registro Principal del municipio San Francisco ubicado en la Av. 5 de dicha municipalidad, fuí en compañía de mi hermana, como a esa hora no había disponible transporte para llegar caminamos 2 Km desde nuestra casa hasta el sitio, llegamos a las 6:20am pero aún no había iniciado la actividad, para el momento apenas estaba amaneciendo pero estaba bastante nublado y durante la caminata no vimos al sol cosa que parecía bien raro porque aquí siempre tenemos al astro rey acompañándonos.
The walk was convened for 6:00am from the Main Registry of the municipality of San Francisco located at Av. 5 of the municipality, I went with my sister, as at that time there was no transportation available to get there we walked 2 km from our house to the site, we arrived at 6:20am but the activity had not yet begun, at the time it was just dawn but it was quite cloudy and during the walk we did not see the sun which seemed very strange because here we always have the sun king accompanying us.
A las 6:30am inició la cuenta regresiva 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 y arrancó la marea rosa era un trayecto de 4Km, contaban con animación y 7 puntos de hidratación con agua, frutas y bebidas energéticas, también ambulancias por si acontecía algún evento que perjudicara la salud de los asistentes, las pancartas alusivas no podían faltar y el color rosa en las franelas de la mayoría de sus asistentes.
At 6:30am started the countdown 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 and the pink tide started, it was a 4Km walk, they had animation and 7 hydration points with water, fruits and energy drinks, also ambulances in case of any event that could damage the health of the participants, the allusive banners could not miss and the pink color in the t-shirts of most of the participants.
Después de 1:10 minutos caminando llegamos al Bulevar Virgen de Coromoto donde queda ubicada la Alcaldía de San Francisco que era el punto de referencia como el final de la caminata, donde había un hermoso listón rosa que simboliza la Lucha Contra el Cáncer de Mama.
After 1:10 minutes walking we arrived at the Boulevard Virgen de Coromoto where the Mayor of San Francisco is located, which was the reference point as the end of the walk, where there was a beautiful pink ribbon symbolizing the Fight Against Breast Cancer.
Fue una bonita y significativa experiencia llena de mucha reflexión para mí mientras la caminaba, pero más allá de esto quiero dejarles un mensaje para todas las mujeres y es que no olviden realizarse el autoexamen de mama, porque la palpación temprana de algún bulto en la zona podría salvar sus vidas y en caso de encontrar algo fuera de lo normal en la zona de los senos acudir a un doctor en la especialidad correspondiente para realizarse los estudios necesarios que incluyen la mamografía, para así poder tener un tratamiento eficaz y oportuno contra la enfermedad.
It was a beautiful and meaningful experience full of much reflection for me while I was walking, but beyond this I want to leave a message for all women and that is not to forget to perform breast self-examination, because early palpation of any lump in the area could save their lives and in case of finding something out of the ordinary in the breast area go to a doctor in the corresponding specialty to perform the necessary studies including mammography, in order to have an effective and timely treatment against the disease.
Yo perdí a mi suegra que solo tenía 49 años por una metástasis causada por este tipo de cáncer y no saben lo difícil que es perder un familiar por ello, aunque se hizo todo lo posible y lucho hasta el final no pudo sobrevivir, así que si tienen más de 25 años de edad no olviden: "Tocarse para que no les toque".
I lost my mother-in-law who was only 49 years old due to a metastasis caused by this type of cancer and you do not know how difficult it is to lose a family member because of it, although she did everything possible and fought until the end she could not survive, so if you are over 25 years old do not forget: "Touch yourself so that it does not touch you".
