Yesterday was a special day, filled with joy and the vibrant hues of nature. I had the pleasure of picking up my cousin sister from the airport, who has just completed her 12th exams and is here to spend quality time with me.
The journey back home was an adventure, as we opted to take a local ride in an auto rickshaw, a quintessential part of Bangladeshi urban life.
Auto rickshaws in Bangladesh, often compared to the Indian TukTuk, are small, three-wheeled vehicles that serve as an affordable and convenient mode of transport in the bustling cities.
These vehicles are distinctive with their bright colors and cage-like structures on both sides, providing a unique blend of safety and openness.
This design allows passengers to enjoy an uninterrupted view of the outside world while seated inside. As we drove through the city, the open sides of the auto-rickshaw let us fully immerse ourselves in the scenic beauty around us.
Our route took us through DiaBari, a rapidly developing area where the cityscape is ever-changing with new constructions springing up almost overnight. Despite the buzz of construction, the ride was peaceful, with a gentle breeze and the pleasant weather adding to our enjoyment.
The highlight of our journey, however, was the breathtaking sight of the Royal Poinciana, or Krishnachura, flowers in full bloom.
The Royal Poinciana, known locally as Krishnachura, is a beloved tree in Dhaka, renowned for its stunning red blossoms that paint the cityscape with vibrant hues. During its peak season, these trees are a sight to behold, transforming ordinary streets into tunnels of fiery red and orange.
The Krishnachura tree is not only a visual delight but also a symbol of summer and beauty in Bangladesh. Its sprawling branches and flamboyant flowers create a canopy that offers shade and a feast for the eyes.
As we rode through the streets lined with these magnificent trees, it felt as though the entire city was celebrating in shades of red. The flowers, in full bloom, seemed to cascade from the branches, creating a magical atmosphere that was both invigorating and soothing. It was as if nature had laid out a red carpet to welcome my cousin and mark the beginning of her stay with us.
The combination of the lively cityscape, the serene lakes, and the blossoming trees made for a perfect day. Amid our busy lives, moments like these remind us of the simple pleasures that nature offers. It's days like these that make me appreciate the beauty of Dhaka and the wonderful surprises it holds.
