Excerpts at Midnight: A Freewrite

I've finally managed to write down something here after days of focusing on my exams. After hours of having a staring contest on the screen, as if I could win over a laptop, I have just decided to squeeze out whatever is left in my two dancing braincells at midnight. Honestly, I have this urge to write but my mood wouldn't cooperate and the creativity depends on it.

And then, snapped. Freewriting!

I haven't done that exercise in about... a year now. Long before I have been drowned in a mountain pile of high school works, I used to do this.

Freewriting is a prompt that we used to do before, and here's a mention to @meitanteikudo for initiating that one. I don't know if he is still actively writing here in Hive or playing Splinterlands, but I got that brilliant idea from him.

Well, freewriting is basically writing down anything that you have in mind, letting your fingers do the work, and not trying to pressure yourself from composing anything exceptional. Whatever that might be, just write it down!

Chill.
Write.
Let the ideas flow.

Those were the main objectives of this prompt actually. You are basically trying to break free from a stubborn writer's block without forcing your mind to create wonders for you instantly. Let the juices flow as it should be and see the magic of this technique!

Writer's block may come in many ways just like when you lack ideas or inspiration to compose a piece, burnouts, distractions, and many more, you name it. This is my frequent problem when writing something, may it be a poem, a short story, or a personal blogs. I have an idea and I have images ready but the composition of words are stuck somewhere else.

When my reflexes are telling me to type another sets of words in the editor, but my brain says it can't for too many unknown reasons. Sometimes, my mood will have a fair share in the tragedy. I've been steered away from my usual writing habits because of some priorities and I have completely forgotten that freewriting can be the perfect solution for this.

While I don't get dull and rusty from my hobbies for doing such exercise, I can post something that I wouldn't get zero in a week. It's not about the rewards that I could get from posting weekly, but trying to get back on the peak where I once was. Countless opportunities have passed because I don't feel confident with my writing skills anymore.

Just what had happened there?

Writing is my forte, but I feel like a mediocre everytime I face the members of the school publication. Ain't that my dream back then? And, now, I'm backing out due to a silly reason, kinda funny when I think of it. When I should have been practicing, I spent my time lamenting.

Not to worry anymore. I'll be back on track and maybe join the School Publication next school year. For starters, everytime I have a writer's block, I'll be doing this.

And yes, please feel free to try freewriting if you can't think of anything else to write, too. 🤗

Freewriting or not, you are really good in writing. Join the school publication next School Year. Share your talent and skills to people who love reading. 🫶

Thanks a lot for the compliment! That made me smile. Yeah, I'm for it now but I really should be practicing because there is an assessment before you can join the publication.

I am also a person who likes to write and read, I enjoy reading the stories you share

I also likes to write, but my mind sometimes wouldn't cooperate😅.
