ABOUT ME
My name is Bryan Darrell. My family members call me Darrell; others call me Bryan. Either way is fine. I am from Medellin, Cebu. My age? It’s a secret. I am not young, but not old (hahahaha), have a guess. I am a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Information Systems program at the University of Cebu-Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue.
As of now, I have been working as a call center agent for over 10 years. Honestly, life wasn’t and is still not easy. I received a lot of criticism from people who did not even contribute to my education because I ended up working in a BPO even though I have a degree. They would often ask me why I didn’t find a job that was in line with my program and that it’s such a waste. They always treat call center agents so poorly.
However, they didn’t know that this job allowed me to help my family because I received a great salary. I even excelled in my job and received a lot of certificates of recognition. I also experienced being a trainer. But amidst all the criticism, I just shrugged it off because they still wouldn’t be able to help me in any way. I love my job. But honestly, I will not stay here forever because, practically speaking, this job is not stable. In fact, I’ve been into a lot of BPO companies now—I would say, ten companies.
Anyway, let’s jump to my family background. I come from a family of four. It’s just me, my younger brother, my mother, and my father. We live a simple life. There are no riches, but my parents surely made everything easy for us. But life isn’t just all about ups. We also encountered downs many times. But what kept us going was the love we have for our family. As long as we are together, no amount of struggles or problems could bring us down.
My parents have always been very supportive in every way. I remember way back in my elementary and high school days, I’ve always been a top student because my mother was always there to help me and guide me when it came to my studies. My teachers also made me join a lot of school competitions, such as "balak," oration, quiz bees, and many more, because I believe I was a brilliant kid back then and my mother was always there to back me up.
My mother was an aspiring teacher, but sadly, she wasn’t able to fulfill that dream since she got married early. But she said that she has no regrets because she now has a wonderful family. My parents sacrificed a lot for our family, and now it is my turn to pay back all of their hard work and sacrifices. Maybe not now, not even soonest, but I promise to give them the life they deserve. Life is not a race. I will surely get to where I want to be.
PASSION/INTERESTS/HOBBIES
When it comes to my passions, interests, and hobbies, I surely have a few.
I am always in love with operating sound systems. In fact, I always wanted to be a DJ. I enjoy remixing music to make people happy and dance to the music. But as of this moment, I do not own a DJ mixer so I just downloaded an application wherein I can spend my boring hours by remixing music through a mobile application called “Edjing Mix”. I often watch videos about “battles of music” where they showcase different sound systems and identify which one has the loudest sound among all the sound systems. Someday, I wanted to have my own sound system and mixer and have my own business out of it. For now, I am slowly working for it.
Another hobby that I like is playing Mobile Legends during my free time. I am not saying that I am a pro at playing this online game, but I really enjoy it. I even play with my girlfriend sometimes, but we have more losses than wins. But to me, it doesn’t matter if we always lose the game; we just always laugh it off since it’s just a game after all.
Motorcycle riding and drag racing also pique my interest. I always watch drag racing competition before together with my younger brother whenever I have free time. But right now, since I got busy from work, I only watch drag racing competitions online. And when I am off from work, I sometimes go on a ride with my friends. Actually, I was a member of the "smash club" before. That club is composed of people who were using "smash" model of motorcycles. However, that club got dissolved and separated due to some reasons.
REASONS FOR JOINING HIVE/CONTRIBUTION TO HIVE (WHO INTRODUCED HIVE TO ME)
The person who partly introduced me to Hive is @reshychannn. But the person who onboarded and explained Hive to me is @jeannmazing. I joined the onboarding webinar on May 19, 2024, together with other people. @jeannmazing thoroughly discussed with everyone what Hive is all about, and it really caught my interest. I joined Hive because I’ve heard I can make a lot of good online friends here. Well, I really love making friends. I do have a lot of friends in real life, anywhere I go. So, I guess, this platform would make a great way to make more friends. Also, I learned that Hive is a good way to share your stories and also read stories and experiences from other people. And as for someone who loves to write and read, this place would be heaven for me. I can also make a contribution to Hive by sharing my stories, experiences, and unforgettable memories so that I can connect with other people.
